Wolverine Wednesday: Recruiting Blitz Hits TV

Recruiting is a fun off season hobby, it's fun to guess where kids might end up and how well your favorite team will do in getting highly rated kids to sign in the 2011 class.  We get to watch their YouTube highlight videos but not much else.   Well Michigan fans, tonight you get your chance to see Dee Hart playing in the GridIron Kings 7 on 7 (ironically at 7:00 PM EST) Championship Game on ESPN U.

This should be an interesting showcase of Dee's talent but I also want you to keep an eye on two prospects that continue to be on Michigan's radar even after they have verballed to Florida State and Alabama.  The two kids to keep an eye on are Hasean Clinton-Dix and Karlos Williams.   Many of you that have followed Hart's recruitment knows that Clinton-Dix is Dee's teammate at Orlando's Dr. Phillips and Karlos Williams plays for Davenport, Florida.   These two are maybe the best two Safeties in the country.  Both happen to be friends with Dee of course and current Wolverine Ricardo Miller.  Both are contemplating a visit up to Ann Arbor during the season to catch a game at the Big House.  So you can look at Michigan chances two ways: 1) these guys are already committed but still want to take visits for a free trip and to catch a game at a historic stadium or 2) they really want to play together and Michigan gives them the best opportunity.   Getting kids on campus is the #1 key in recruiting, if they "drink the kool-aide"  you never know what could happen.

Tonight is a rare opportunity to catch these three high school super stars in action!  The game is a blow out so just focus on the talent on the field.

  • How many offensive lineman can the 2011 boat hold?  Michigan has two committed already Jake Fisher and Jack Miller.  They have an interested group that includes:  Anthony Zettel, Nick Martin, Ray Ball, Jordan Walsh, Cyrus Hobbi, Chris Bryant, and Tony Posada (who is expected to announce next week).  I expect Michigan to take 5-6 O-lineman this year.  So the race to commit is on.  We also expect good news from Posada next week.  Which would leave 3 more spots max.

  • Detroit Linebacker Ed Davis has moved up his announcement date to August 4th.  Best guess: Iowa

  • WR Valdez Showers might also join Davis announcing on 8/4 which is the Sound Mind and Sound Body media day and the official kick off to Michigan's high school's 2010 season.  Showers offer list looks like: Michigan, MSU, Florida, Auburn, Wisconsin and Iowa.   This is a tough call at this point.  Best guess is Michigan or Florida.  (freep warning)

  • Running back Justice Hayes is planning to announce this Friday.  Best guess: ND

  • Trey DePriest, one of the top LB's in the country, who grew up a Michigan fan, will announce his decision this Friday as well.  He is down to his home state Ohio State Buckeyes or Alabama Crimson Tide.  He never made it up to Ann Arbor for a visit.   So he is picking Michigan's #1 rival or a guy that coached Michigan's #2 rival and a school Rich Rod turned down a number of years ago.  Recruiting is a strange game sometimes. Best guess: Roll Tide
