Wolverine Wednesday: OT Against Northwestern

I guess the 1-3-1 is a tough defense to beat.  The staple defense of John Beilein worked against the Wolverines last night and it took extra time for Michigan to get the W against a NW team that was playing for their first spot in the NCAA Tournament ever.   Michigan played great defense the entire game but had trouble getting the ball inside to Jordan Morgan and took 38 three point shots.

Michigan missed a few layups and missed way too many foul shots but continued to play hard and shot NW off the floor in OT.   Trey Burke is such a gamer for a freshman, it's really un-believable. The Wolverines haven't missed Darius Morris at all and maybe even a better team this year due to the outside shooting threat from the point.  Tim Hardaway's foul shots were killing me and I hope he works on that before the Big 10 and NCAA tournaments.   Those shots could be the difference in winning and losing a tournament game.    Either way a nice road win for the Wolverines last night.

If the Wolverines can win out, they have a great shot at a share of the Big Ten Championship.  They have Purdue at home this weekend and Illinois and PSU on the road left.

  • LTT on committing to Michigan on Sunday I asked my Mom what she thought and she was actually bugging out because she thought I was going to say Wisconsin because I was just up there. She said Logan, you know what I think. But she didn’t know what I was going to do. She was on the phone with someone when I called Michigan, and I said Mom, I’m on the phone and you need to come hear it. She heard what was happening and instantly started crying. It was a real great moment.
