Michigan Friday: Lends a Hand

Updated Clap 12:30 PM: Greg Mattison contract extended until 2016.   Which is huge.  You could argue that Mattison is the most important coach on staff.  Now he is locked into 4 more years!!!

The first Hand goes to the Michigan Basketball team that struggled early against a team that has given them trouble twice this year.  They started to focus in the second half and put Penn State away for the year.  Well done!  Now they need to redeem themselves against the Hail Mary win Wisconsin had earlier this year.   Tip time is 2:30 again ESPN.

Second Hand goes to:  Jordan Kovas who had a very nice Pro Day on Thursday.  He had a bet with Denard and Shoelaces will be buying dinner.   Kovacs ran a 4.6 40, 20 yard shuffle in 4.19,  and a 6.62 in the three-cone drill.   Denard didn't run the 40 and just did WR and Returner drills.   There are highlights on Mgoblue of his drills and some guys running the 40.  Big Will ran with his shirt off and looked pretty good.  There were rumors that the Patriots gave Kovacs a private workout.

Third hand waves good bye to 3 Wolverines:  TE Nate Allspach, S Drew Offerdahl, and DL Kenny Wilkins.  None of them were expected to contribute and we wish them well in life or at their next football spot.  Kenny was the only scholarship player.

Fourth Hand continues to lay flat for Will Hagerup who is still suspended.

The Fifth Hand goes to the #1 Recruit in the Nation!:  DE Da'Shawn Hand who is expected to be in Ann Arbor this weekend for the start of Spring Practice.   "Da'Shawn Hand is one of the most physically impressive junior prospects that I have ever seen," said Scout.com East Coast recruiting analyst, Michael Clark. "He looks like he should be a junior in college, not high school. Hand is one of those rare prospects who have the total package."

The Sixth Hand claps for a classy former Wolverine, Jeff Backus who called it a career yesterday.  He had spent 12 years in the NFL.

A high five goes to all the 2014 visitors this weekend which also include:  2014 TE Nic Weishar, 2014 LB commit Michael Ferns, 2014 LB Kyle Berger and new news 2014 OL Tommy Doles.

Thumbs down for the uniforms Michigan is going to wear today.  There were reports Michigan was not going to wear these Adidas jerseys.

Go Blue!  Play hard this weekend in Chicago!
