As Bad As It Gets

I wish I had words for what we just witnessed, but I don't.

I'm not angry,  I'm just disappointed that our beloved program is in such bad shape.  This was a Rich Rod type of effort tonight.  This team clearly didn't want to be there and the defense was completely over matched by a mid-tier Big 12 team.

For the most part, Shane played well.  Big Al went to the well way too often with the Gallon sweeps, but he was just trying to pop something.   He didn't call a screen pass all year and that's all he ran tonight.

Highlight of the issues include:

  • No pass rush
  • DB's playing 10 yards off the WR's
  • Can't get any traditional running game going
  • No urgency on offense - Is there a slower tempo offense in college football?
  • WR dropping balls
  • No offensive line run blocking
Thank goodness this season is over and 2013 only has a few days left.   This has been a terrible year for Michigan Football and I don't see how 2014 could be any worse, the problem is: will it get better?

There has to be staff changes, what they are teaching is not working.  We all know I believe Big Al should get his walking papers and there should be some changes on the defensive staff as well.

This type of effort, lack of execution and poor coaching is not Michigan Football and David Brandon better find away to fix it fast or Michigan is heading down a slope that could be worse than what Notre Dame has been on.

Brady Hoke has one more year to prove he is a Michigan worthy coach.  After this season of disaster, I think there are more questions then answers if he is the right man for Michigan long term.

I think this was just another spring ball game only with a real opponent.
Shane did well, Big Al dug deep for those play calls not bad though, where in the hell were they during the season. I think the run game is a thing of the past with Big Al.
They acted like they just didn't want to be there last night, when I was their age at 10 o'clock on a Saturday night I was trying to get under some chicks blouse.
I did play once at 10 o'clock and it was awful the body just didn't want to move in the right directions.
Well the youth tag is now gone, let's see what happens next year...GO BLUE

All year long we lost the line of scrimmage battle. game in and game out. Unacceptable. Either we figure out how to run the damn ball (which we have not done in YEARS other than the guy wearing #16), and we figure out how to stop the run or it's time to bring people in that can do that. Ohio will always be able to run it with urban Liar at the helm so a string run D needs to be a HIGH priority.

Really poor effort by the defense. Putting that one on Mattison. Pass rush please. Gap responsibility to stop the run? They looked lost , unmotivated and disinterested. Fundamentally awful. As much as we bitch about the OC, the defense has been god awful the last two games. Totally unprepared. There is no excuse for that showing.

If Michigan lost 31-14 to one of those totally badass 80s Miami teams, that would be embarrassing.
Nope. They did it this year to a middle of the pack Big 12 team.
Shameful.
Hoke has *proven* himself a worse coach than Schwartz for the Lions.

Nobody is worse than Schwartz. LOL

Apathy has set in. I just don't care any more. I am sick of the seat tax, sick of inferior competition, 2014 home schedule, Al Borges, Fitz, not playing Green at all, etc, etc, etc. Especially sick of Dave Brandon. Go deliver someone a pizze.

It's pathetic that Hoke has to prove himself next year by not getting embarrassed in games, not by winning anything significant. That's simply not a high enough bar and wouldn't be tolerated in any truly relevant football program. Why prolong the inevitable? The fact of the matter is that he can't coach and the team has shown no improvement throughout the season. Michigan has become an irrelevant football program now that it can't even claim the "winningest" title anymore.
