Wolverine Wednesday: More Position Changes

Spring Practice started yesterday and Hoke met with the media on some more position changes.

  • James Ross and RJS is moving to SAM after Ryan's move to the middle
  • Heitzman is moving from the DL to TE.  Michigan needed a blocker at TE.
  • Ross Douglas from CB to RB which we already knew
  • Shallman will be a H-Back
  • David Dawson will be tackle, right or left is TBD and when Magnusson's get back from injury
  • Right now the starting OL is:   LT David Dawson, LG Kyle Bosch, C Graham Glasgow, RG Kyle Kalis, RT Ben Braden

Hoke also said Michigan will be running more Over defense vs. Under defense.  Meaning all 3 LB's will be behind the 4 defensive lineman.  Most of last year, Michigan had one LB on the line to try to pressure the QB, which didn't work out so well.

Here is Michigan's Spring Practice Schedule:

Tuesday, Feb. 25 -- Practice #1
Thursday, Feb. 27 -- Practice #2
Tuesday, March 11 -- Practice #3
Thursday, March 13 -- Practice #4
Saturday, March 15 -- Practice #5
Tuesday, March 18 -- Practice #6
Thursday, March 20 -- Practice #7
Saturday, March 22 -- Practice #8
Tuesday, March 25 -- Practice #9
Thursday, March 27 -- Practice #10
Friday, March 28 -- Practice #11
Saturday, March 29 -- Practice #12
Tuesday, April 1 -- Practice #13
Thursday, April 3 -- Practice #14
Saturday, April 5 -- Spring Game

  • Coach Nuss is making $830,000 this year

  • Iowa lost last night to Minnesota, which helps the Gophers tournament chances

  • Devin is off of crutches and working his way back to a 100%, he seems to be a big fan of Coach Nuss offense so far:    “It’s really fast, you get a lot of reps,” Gardner said. “It’s probably the fastest practice I’ve ever been a part of today so I feel like that’s going to benefit us in the long run.”On the fast pace, Gardner added, “Coach Nuss definitely pushes tempo. Making sure we get to the ball fast, get the calls out, get the mikes out, do everything you need to at the line of scrimmage and then get the ball hiked.“So, he’s pushing that and sometimes we go hurry up so we get more reps in.”
