Happy New Year!

It sounds like Michigan found their OC yesterday as USC offensive line coach and running game coordinator Tim Drevno is rumored to be taking that role.   Tim is known as a really good OL coach and was Jimmy's OC at San Diego.   This seems like a very solid hire.

What does this mean for Ty Wheatley?   That is a good question, mostly after Ty found out yesterday that he is probably out of a job as Bills RB coach after Doug Marrone opted out of his contract.   My hope is both Michigan and Ty would be open to him filling the RB coach role at Michigan.  It was pretty clear early on that Ty was looking for coordinator role for his next job,  maybe Michigan could offer him the running game coordinator role?

What does this mean for Andy Moeller?  Same situation here.   Andy is the Browns OL coach and I assume a similar role might be offered to him at Michigan.

Either way it sounds like our OL coaching is going to get an upgrade, which we all know is very important for the struggling Wolverines line.

Mattison is still rumored to have a role in the defense has he worked for John Harbaugh in Baltimore.  Something like an Assistant Head Coach and Dline or LB coach.   Michigan also owes him $900K for next year and probably would like to get some coaching and recruiting for that large bag of cash.

DJ Durkin is still rumored to be top candidate for the DC role.

John Morton the 49'ers WR coach, who before that held a number of offensive roles at USC is also rumored to be heading to Ann Arbor.  John is from Michigan and graduated from WMU.  My guess is he would be the WR coach in A2.

Kentucky's ace recruiter and TE coach Vince Marrow seems to be on or off the table on who you believe.  He is known as a great recruiter of Ohio and the Midwest but UK is going to do all they can to keep him.

It is looking less and less that there might be open roles for current coaches past Mattison.

Have a great New Years Day and enjoy the first College Football Playoffs!

Common theme.....NFL experienced coaches. That will further help with recruiting and obviously player development.

I can't wait to see who we pull in for this class. I have a feeling we are all going to be VERY pleased.

Know your new coach; Two great articles; One provides a complete insight into Harbaugh's coaching style and the other on the new OC:

I am very happy with rumoured coaches coming to us...but after last nights game I think our job to become big 10 champs has just become a little harder....Congrats to Ohio....that team is young and deep....3RD STRING QB....That team is talented and super young...little brothers only 2 losses....Ohio and Oregon....but one thing I do take from Ohio success is that recruting is king...and I hope with Jimmy and other NFL coaches on the way this will help cause it looks like Ohio will be a player for next few years
