Wolverine Wednesday: Where Art Thou Mr. Norfleet?

Dennis Norfleet was a late addition to Michigan's 2012 class, he was headed to Cincinnati and I just loved that the Wolverines picked him up.   He is entertaining on the field and every time he catches a punt or kick off we hold our breathe that he might take it for a touchdown.   The last couple of years he has been the ray of sunshine in a dark thunderstorm.

Now comes the news he has been dismissed from the team.   The rumor mill is spinning that it's an academic situation and that he missed a few final exams.   Today, Sam Webb is reporting that Norfleet hasn't been dismissed just suspended.   For the record, his high school coach says he is no longer with the program and has been dismissed.

Here is hoping that Mr. Webb is correct and Dennis is in summer school to make up for the finals he blew off.

I thought this was so minor, I didn't even mention here.  But it made ESPN bottom line and a couple of shows, so I will cover it.   Michigan Football reported 4 secondary violations:

1) was Mike Zordich and Gwendolyn Bush mentioned and tweeted about Wayne Lyons transferring to Michigan before it was official.  Bush is Wayne's Mom but she works on Jim's staff.

2)  On March 18, Jim Harbaugh sent an autographed team helmet and jersey to an auction organized by a former high school classmate of his to benefit suicide prevention and awareness. The donation was not reviewed beforehand by Michigan's compliance office, and the items that were auctioned ended up being used to assist a scholarship fund in the name of a student who had committed suicide, something Harbaugh was not aware of, according to U-M's self-reported violation.  Programs can't donate items that fund scholarships.   This is a violations that I can live with and even support!

3) March 14, when Harbaugh, Minick and special teams coordinator John Baxter allowed a prospective student-athlete (unnamed in the report) to sit in a premium seating area with coaches during a hockey game at Yost Ice Arena

4) The fourth self-reported secondary violation came by way of an electronic correspondence/recruiting materials violation where electronic materials were created and/or sent to a recruit (who is not named).

These are all minor violations and there won't be any punishment.   OSU sends in about a 100 of these each year.  Nothing to see here.

Yea, here is an old quote from Mgoblog: Between January 1st, 2000, and May 2009 Ohio State reported 375 secondary violations, most of any D-I school. Here is the original link from the Columbus Dispatch
