Michigan Tuesday: Options Dwindling?

The potential retirements of Brady and Rodgers has pushed Harbaugh out of the news cycle.  The trend also seems to be that Jimmy's NFL options are dwindling.  John U Bacon said to keep an eye on the Vikings in yesterday's tweet, but with the money being equal, some might consider Michigan a better job.

  • Hunter was named BIG Ten Player of the Week
  • Caleb Houstan was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week
  • The GOAT has a podcast and said he will take into account of his family on his decision to come back or not.  My guess another decision metric will be the Bucs Roster, if he loses weapons or the defense loses key players, he will retire.  Neither Tom nor Aaron wants to struggle to make the playoffs.

Concerning Harbaugh I do hope he gets one more year simply because I’m curious if the new staff plus Jim can sustain this year’s success or know for sure that 2021 was just a flash in the pan.

In your opinion, what's the "worst" he can do next year and "not" be considered a flash in the pan...

No more osu blow outs and no more missed opportunities to put away the msu game. Would be a significant start

Not the answer I was looking for but thanks anyway.

I wish he would make his mind up cuz I think it's hurting recruiting right now

The truth in my opinion is that it’s a difficult thing to quantify, there is no specific number but I believe we will recognize it if we see it again. This year was very special but was it because of of X’s and O’s ( coaching) or was it Jim’s and joe’s ( players) especially veteran players & can it be repeated with a degree of regularity? That’s just what I’m curious about. I’m neither pro nor anti Harbaugh just a guy talking with friends. Thanks for the dialogue I look forward to your thoughts.

Flash in the pan thoughts. I believe Ohio State probably started planning for Michigan on January 2nd. Next November at Columbus will be a tough road a hoe because they're going to be loaded for bear. If we lose it better be a close loss. We also need to put a hurting on MSU. Personally I'd rather beat MSU and Notre Dame (when we used to play them), Ohio State isn't that big a deal to me. We also need to take care of either and or both Wisconsin and Penn State at home. If we could do that and end up 10-2 I wouldn't consider it a flash in the pan. Personally I'm still in harbaugh's corner. He's had some good seasons with some tough losses and frankly there's a lot of other college teams out there that would kill to have our record over his tenure. Let's face it we're not going to win the Big Ten or go to the playoffs every year. College football is going to hell in the handbag pretty quick so I'm going to enjoy it these last couple years while it lasts. After that y'all can have it. Have a good off-season. Enjoy it...

I agree 100%. To be honest I rarely watch “the game” anymore as it has become “the beat down”. I agree that 90% of other programs would love our record under Harbaugh. I certainly have enjoyed watching Michigan win the games they are supposed to win thanks to Harbaugh. Not a given in the year’s previous.

In regards to college football on the whole. It’s definitely going places that it shouldn’t. Byu has big doners paying for scholarships for every football player. Effectively allowing them a whole team of scholarships. No advantage there. Texas a&m and bama basically give cars away like Halloween candy and these are just the common knowledge examples. College football is in a place now that it no longer has to hide its crazy! It puts its dirty laundry on display like a cheap mtv reality show. Sad really ,but what else is there to watch on rainy Saturday, so I watch & will continue I guess at least until I start feeling guilty for somehow supporting the profiteering of what was once a pure endeavor. Thank you.

I can't add to what Goose said ... but comparing the situation in college football to a cheap MTV reality show was worth more than a few chuckles!!
Also appreciate szanreno's comments... I can save my time typing because I agree with them.

I guess we're all singing the same song. The song sucks but we're singing it. Good dialogue, enjoyed it guys...

Lastly before I go. The song that sucks is the state of college football today and going forward. Not Michigan football. Now I'll let you get back to your regular scheduled programming...
