Michigan Friday: Super Bowl Players and Prediction

This is always a bittersweet weekend for me, as its Super Bowl Weekend and at the same time the final football game of the season.   I don't like watching Baseball on TV (will there even be a season?) and the NBA doesn't get good until the playoffs.   Michigan Basketball hopefully is getting hot at the right time!

I like big game Joe Burrow as he never seems to get rattled.  He has a great WR core and a just good enough "no name" defense.   The problem is Cincinnati might have the worst offensive line in Super Bowl history.  Former Buckeye Isaiah Prince might be the worst NFL Tackle I've ever seen.   I would have pulled someone out of retirement before I put Prince back on the field.

Match Bengals terrible OLine vs. maybe the Rams best defensive line in Super Bowl history, equals a long day for the Bengals.   It will be interesting to see if the Bengals can game plan around their offensive line.   They have been doing the entire playoffs, so there is a chance.

I'm also happy for Matt Stafford getting his chance in the sun.  He deserves it and I hope he plays well.  The one thing Matt will have to guard against, is that game crushing interception he always seems to throw.  He threw in the NFC Championship game, it was just dropped by the San Fransico DB.

Rams 31 Bengals 21

Congratulations to Chris Evans who in a very short window, has gone from delivery driver to playing in the Super Bowl!

Congratulations to David Long Jr. who gets to play for his hometown team in a Super Bowl in his hometown.

I was surprised to learn that Jordan Kovas is actually a Defensive Quality Control Coach for the Bengals.  Well done Jordan!

Another thing I learned while researching this post.  Did you know former Wolverine Safety Brandon Watson who plays in JAX has changed his last name to Brandon Rusnak?  He did it for Cancer awareness as "Rusnak" backwards sounds like Cancer.

  • Former NFL Executive Tom Gamble is becoming Michigan's Player Personnel Director.
  • Michigan Basketball got its biggest win of the season last night knocking off former #1 and current #3 Purdue 82-58.  Michigan shot 57% from 3-point land and made 12 of them.   There is no mystery to this team, if they can shoot make the 3 they can win basketball games.  If they don't, they lose.   It would be nice to go on a little run here late in the season and get into the tournament.

Enjoy the Super Bowl!!!

After the Titans sacked Burrow 9 times, I figured the Bengals had ZERO chance against KC and Chris Jones, Frank Clark, and the rest of the KC DL. And they just never got home. Now for the SB, on paper the Rams DL should dominate the Cincy OL and they just might. But I'm not counting out Big D*ck Joe and his swagger. Burrow has been everything the Bengals needed that Stafford never was in Detroit. Joe Burrow is just a DUDE!

I’m rooting for stafford. He was great for/with the Lions, and my view is to cheer “our” guy. I don’t blame stafford for crappy management and draft decisions by the lions. Go Matt!

Great game last night by Mich, and I think they will make the tourni (fingers crossed!!).

Stafford is NOT our guy. He left and now he's the Rams "guy". Did the Lions organization do a bad job building a team around him, sure except in 2014. In that playoff game against Dallas, Stafford led the Lions to 2 1st qtr TDs and after that, only could move the ball for 2 FGs and put a goose egg in the 4th qtr. That's Stafford's career synopsis. Fast start, long lulls in the middle of the game, and then furious comebacks against defenses that are willing to trade yardage for time off the clock. Does he have a lot of late game comebacks, sure but most elite QBs don't dig the holes that Stafford always did! Sorry, don't think Stafford deserves a SB. Hope he loses!

Stafford was a good Lion. No problem with people who disagree- but wishing poor results for someone who was loyal to the Lions for so long doesn't feel like a happy person. Clearly, it was the Lions who were the problem, not Stafford. He is in the SB, and Lions aren't.

1st Stafford was loyal to himself and his bank account. Oh, he said all the right things when they put a mic in front of his face but how loyal was he to the Lions. Did he go the extra mile, give the Lions a discount like Tom Brady gave the Pats? NO! 2nd, by hope he loses, is because I'd rather see Joe Burrow win! I believe Burrow has done more with less. And any Lions fans that rooting for Stafford to win the SB is a fool! Just screws that draft pick they get from the Rams this year. Fans can be such losers! Buying Detroit Rams shirts or half Rams/ half Lions #9. Pathetic. I root for the team not the player. When the player leaves the team, he's dead to me! Don't care if he wins another game. Felt the same way about Verlander. Could care less he got his WS ring. And when the team I root for ain't cutting it, I dump on them. Don't care if its the Lions, Tigers or Wolverines. I'm a fan, not a fan boy!

Draft pick comment is a bit silly - 31 vs 32?? Not a big difference, amigo. You don’t like Stafford, understood. I disagree, and think he was a great lion and a great person to the Detroit community. Doesn’t make me a fool. Just someone with a different opinion than you.
