Wolverine Wednesday: Who Is Going to Start at QB?

If you listen to insiders, you might hear that Cade has the command of the offense and JJ is still a gunslinger with a huge upside.   My response is, "so nothing has changed?".

Jimmy is really not that hard to read and is pretty predictable when it comes to decisions like this.   I believe that Cade will start, play until the offense has a comfortable lead and then turn the offense over to JJ who will play for a quarter or two before Davis Warren comes in to clean up the game.

We might see the true freshman QB's in special packages that have them running with a pass option.   With the lack of a true power back, there is speculation from folks like Mgoblog that one of the QB's could fill that role.  I don't really love that idea and believe that could lead to fumbles and other bad outcomes.

  • Softball Head Coach Carol Hutchins is retiring after 38 years.  Congrats Coach!
  • Michigan Basketball Team seems to be having a very fun time in Greece as there is an IG reel with Hunter dancing on a table at a restaurant.
  • Miami of Florida might finally get its own stadium.  There is a new 60,000-person stadium proposal on the table right now.   Is there a good college program that plays in an NFL stadium? It seems to work against programs like Miami and Pitt.
  • The College QB Shuffle:  Former USC QB Kedon Slovis who now plays for Pitt will start against former USC and Georgia QB JT Daniels who now starts for West Virigina in a week.

Sure sounds like Cade is the man. Fact is, the kid won the B10 last year so it should have been his job to lose. If JJ really showed out, then the best man wins and gets the job. I'm really hoping if Cade is the man, JJ doesn't head for the portal. There are duplicitous schools (See USC) out there that have ways to get "messages" to these kids that they are interested (See Pitt WR). JJ would start at 95% of the other schools, he just happens to sit behind the B10 Champion QB. Jimmy likes discipline and reliability. JJ is a gambler. Doubt coverage doesn't scare him. Even the great pass he made against Western last year was perhaps an ill advised...throw back across the field play. Nobody cares when it works, but when it doesn't...they want your head.

No perhaps, that wasn't a smart pass. Low % pass! You can argue that QB shuffle last year during the State game cost us the game. I get JJ has huge upside, but Cade hasn't done much to lose the starter job. Some people will argue that the CFP game, Cade was overmatched. Yeah, and so was the rest of the team. Hutch struggled, Ojabo was a no show. In the end, JJ wasn't going to be the difference maker in that game agaisnt Georgia. They were too loaded.
