Michigan Tuesday: News and Notes

  • Another Noon game for the Wolverines, @ Indiana on Fox
  • Blake Corum Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week
  • The NFL has finally killed the Pro Bowl
  • Juwan Howard's team is now practicing and getting ready for the season
  • Xavier Simpson signed a training camp deal for the Orlando Magic or Michigan's Alumni professional basketball team
  • Michigan is trending for 2023 GA OL Nathan Efobi who is a 3/4 star prospect
  • Michigan really needs to land 5-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor who visited last weekend.  He has a 4.0 GPA and a freak athlete.  Academics are very important to him, so let's hope Alabama doesn't show him the hurricane simulator.
  • Local boy Orchard Lake St. Mary's WR Ryan Mooney has decommitted from ND baseball and now is picking up D1 football offers including BC.  Many programs are interested in this dual threat athlete.  Michigan?
  • CMU's Cooper Rush for NFL MVP?

MM - just so we are all clear, are you nervous that Michigan will win or lose? Or are you nervous about the OSU/ Iowa game on 10/22?

Mi-Man. If JJs loosey goosey with the ball, it could be a bad afternoon as Iowa's D majors in taking the ball away. So if JJ stay within the confines of the offense we should be fine. Iowa couldn't score on Rutgers, well except the D. Now the OC(s) actually need to have a game plan. Whatever that was last Saturday can't happen again this season. Showed no creativity, it was like let's spin the wheel of playbook and see what we should run. I get we all hate Ryan Day, but you know what OSU does? The call plays early in the game to set up big plays later on in the game. They'll show a tendency, then take advantage of the D over playing that tendency and then bust one in the opponents ass! I want to see more of that out of Michigan OCs. We have a tendency to lean too heavily on what we do best, even thought the opponent knows that and has schemed to stop us. Now why Michigan doesn't cover very often, because of that. Generally we are the better team, with the better players, but we're not always the better coached team.

I think your uneasiness comes from the fact that it's hard to believe an Iowa team can be this bad and that they are going to snap out of it and play like a real Iowa team....and will our game be the game when they snap out of it. Or the fact that UM consistently struggles in Iowa. Iowa will fight and keep the game close for a while but will eventually be overpowered and worn down. We win by 2 TDs.

There is a difference between nervous anticipation and nervous fear. I always get the former leading up to a big game, but it's natural. It's the same feeling I get when I'm about to tee off. Just stay focused, crush it, and have fun! GO BLUE!! UM-24,Iowa-10.
