Michigan Monday: Too Early Look at a Bye Week

I know last week; I talked about the positives and negatives of a bye.   Michigan has been on the road for 2 straight weeks and then came home for an emotional top 10 win.  I'm sure the players and coaches deserve a few days off and even more time to heal.   With that said, you don't leave the table on a heater and Michigan is on a hot streak and I wished they were hosting Sparty on Saturday and not in 2 weeks.  It is what it is.

  • I won't watch Fox's Pre-game show because I don't want to hear anything Urban Meyer has to say.  He did get clipped on social media saying, "we are all in agreement that Penn State is going to shut down, ah slow down Michigan's run game".   Why Fox pays that clown, I will never know.
  • If you missed it, former Wolverine Jake Croneworth is becoming a star infielder for the Padres.  He was a key player in San Deigo beating the Mets in the Wild Card round and his two-run single sent the MLB regular season wins leader and massive payroll LA Dodgers home for the winter.  Fun fact: Jake's real name is Jacob John, maybe go with JJ?  😃
  • Jordan Poole gets punched in the face (by an out-of-control Sparty) one week, gets a $140M contact the next.   Well done Jordan and enjoy that pool of cash!
  • The Pacers waived Eli Brooks. 😢
  • The Raptors waived DJ Wilson 😢
  • Derrick Walton Jr. had 32 points in a game in the NBL
  • I usually don't get caught up in the polls and I know why Tennessee jumped Michigan with their win over Alabama but The Wolverines have a better defense.
  • Jake Moody is the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the week: 4 field goals, 3 extra points, and a great open field tackle on kickoff coverage!

I am not going to lie I have to change my underwear when Penn State took the lead... I'm like here we go again Michigan State all over 2022... defense played well but they need to put more pressure on the quarterback CJ Stroud will tear us apart if we don't make him feel uncomfortable...win is a win...but please less stressful...

Completely agree on the bye week comment. Love Bucknutsboy's backhanded comments...

Yeah, two things that are my big takeaway after watching the game (recorded last night, so no underwear concerns for me!)... pass rush could be stronger; gotta get the deep game going on O. But, nitpicks for today. Also, would like to see Stokes and Gash get a few more reps in a game like PSU. We need some experienced backups.

Couldn't stand the seeing Meyer in the stadium

The offensive line was dominating, particularly Keegan and Oluwatimi were destroying people! One thing I didn't care for though was seeing those starting O lineman in there with 2 minutes to go in the game and up big....no need for an injury to those workhorses. Plus, let the 2nd string guys get some reps at that point, they have earned it.

Was really nervous at the beginning of the game. Neither team had really proved itself. 91st and 95th strongest schedules respectively, so I was fearing that we'd shown to be a fraud. Instead, it was PSU that was fraudulent. They were completely manhandled on both sides of the ball. One blown play on defense, and an ill advised pass that was deflected, caromed off a helmet and then taken to the house. Other than that, PSU didn't do much. Not ready to say this is a great team, but they are good and probably very good. Just like the old days, looks like it'll all come down to the final game as long as both teams hold serve!

Sunday I fired up YouTube and was looking at a couple of the Penn State post game shows. Interestingly enough they didn't soft soap anyhing. They fully admitted they got manhandled and even said the score was closer than the game...

Bob, why do you even watch the Fox pregame show if you don't like Urban Liar? I don't watch it. But, if I do and he is on talking, I turn the channel. He and Reggie Bush are a pair made together!
