Mike is one of my favorite Michigan Players of all time. His will and perseverance were off the charts as Michigan's leading rusher. Seeing him go down on the sideline on TV was dramatic enough for the viewing audience, only imagine what the players were feeling. When something like that happens, the game seems secondary and the Wolverines played like that for 30 minutes.
After halftime the Wolverines pitched a shutout on defense and scored 21 points to win by 3 TD's when it felt like they won by 3 points. On to the Cheers and Jeers:
Cheers:
- Michigan won the game
- JJ threw for 300
- Blake had over 100 yards
- Bell and Schoonover had big days catching the ball
- The defensive line again was impressive stuffing the run
- and rushing the passer
- OLine gave JJ plenty of time to pass
- Okie with another impressive game
Jeers:
- Overlooking another opponent
- I thought Michigan's coaching on both sides of the ball was poor
- Offensive play calling was bad
- Joel Klatt called out Michigan tendencies
- IU's defense looked to be "reading Michigan's mail"
- The defensive didn't look prepared for the IU's tempo and offense
- The Big Ten officiating was again the worst in America
- Penalties were a problem, mostly on defense
- JJ never should be running against IU, I also thought he got targeted
- Michigan's LB's continue to struggle to cover in space from like 5-10 yards from LOS
- Moody that field goal should have never been blocked
- Some bad tackling on defense
- How come Michigan can't stop that WR screen that IU ran like 100 times?
- DJ had a poor game
- CoJo had a terrible drop but scored 2 TD's after
- JJ threw his first pick trying to get the ball into triple coverage
I didn't like this game for many reasons and I don't understand why Michigan plays so poorly at IU. Either way, Michigan got the W and Mike is in stable condition (and will spend the night in the hospital down in Bloomington). It was interesting that Michigan had Fred Jackson on the sideline who helped with the RB's after Mike went down.
Michigan will have to play much cleaner if they are going to beat a talented PSU team who seemed to have brought back the week prior bye before Michigan contract terms.

Yes I agree Bob the game was very sloppy prayer goes out to Mike H and his family.... Hopefully the seizure thing is not a big deal and he gets back on the sideline.... Sometimes you need a close game like this so the players know how to react in a situation going forward... I was proud that they did not panic and start doing stupid things... They need to learn how to overcome adversity and be resilient....

Don Brown to OSU
Score not indicative of how close game was first half .... the team showed a lot of "Moxy" the second half. Next week will be very telling ... so far Jimmy has a very good team/borderline great team .... hard to complain about 6-0. Great no white out next week, but you Northerners will get them comes Jan/Feb Yuck Yuck!
-Klatt didn’t just call tendencies, he was saying “oh, motion so this is a run”. That’s really bad when the TV guy telegraphs!! Hopefully that was a bit wake up to the coaches.
-these games happen, and too often in the past we lose these. So step 1 is to win. But, we need to own this game, and the first TD was before Mike’s seizure.
-Oline didn’t have a great game.
-some of those penalties were really bad calls.
But,
-despite not playing great, I think JJ has his best passing game. He made some really strong mid-distance passes. Pure talent. I’m happy with his play (he’s getting better and better). His ceiling is huge.
-I’m an old guy, and had a lump in my throat watching Blake and Devon so emotional about Mike. I love this team and those guys. That’s a true Team. Never been more proud to be a Wolverine.
On to PS… a clean game, and I’m confident we will win.
Best comments ever by Mich Man ^^. Welcome to the blog!!
To Justwin ... so now the only scoundrel left is that beastly Scottydoggs?
On the missed field goal - Michigan lost their starting long snapper, Wagner, to injury in the Iowa game.
I was thinking same thing regarding MichMan. Well done, sir.
third post (yikes) ... and I know this is a UofM blog ...but Michigan State is floundering, looking at their remaining schedule and theoretically they could lose all 6 games; and will have to battle hard to win maybe two! And what the coach signed a 10-year contract for 95 million?
Way to go Hasbro!
Guys thank you for your comments I also welcome you to the blog.... I'm a realist I say how I see it let's go Blue

Mustache man to OSU!
You’re a hero Scotty!! We are all on same team … never need to fully agree. We just need to be nice to each other!!
I like that we dropped to 5th... maybe a good little focusing for the boys.
The DB's got absolutely manhandled by IU's receivers' blocking. At least there was finally a pass rush this game though!
Sure glad Harbaugh is our coach. Outstanding adjustments at half time. We shut Indiana down and really should have had 28 points in the 2nd half.
The personal foul on that sack was such an egregious ref error that the ref who made that call should be disciplined in some fashion. You cannot make those viscerally emotional calls based on total BS. Calls like that change outcomes of games and refs cannot EVER do that. If a ref throws a flag on a play like that they better be 100% certain that it is an OBVIOUS personal foul that endangers or viciously humiliates another player.
