I have a strong opinion on James Franklin and some might disagree with my stance. I feel James is an elite recruiter and a terrible game day coach. From what I can see, the guy can close in the living room but struggles on the sideline. Since he is elite in recruiting, he can get enough talent to cover his weakness and most programs will take that.
He now is whining about the Michigan Tunnel and a situation where both teams got chippy and the Penn State players started throwing their Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches at the Michigan players. Was this a top 10 match-up or an elementary school cafeteria?
“Again, I prefer to talk about these things in the off-season, but the one tunnel is a problem,” Franklin said. “It’s a problem, and has been. To me, we need to put a policy in place from a conference perspective in my mind that’s going to stop — we’re not the first team to kind of get into a jawing match in the tunnel. For me, I want to focus on getting my team into the locker room and not jawing back and forth.
Get my team get in the locker room and their team get in the locker room. There really should be a policy that first team that goes in, there is a buffer. If not, this team starts talking to this team, they start jawing back and forth, and something bad is going to happen before we put in the policy.
“All there has to be a two-minute or minute buffer in between the two teams. This team is in before that team gets close and however we want to do it. But we’re not the first team that’s had issues like that. To me, under the current structure we won’t be the last. To me, there is a really easy solution. We got to do it."
"But for me, I want to get our team in the locker room. That’s my concern.”
Maybe James should worry about his run defense vs. who JAMed up the tunnel.
It really sounds like sour grapes (jam).
Maybe he should hire Peanut Tillman as a DB coach? (fun fact: Peanut Tillman is now an FBI agent)
He really should be SPREADing the blame across his organization.

"Jawing in the tunnel"... wow. It's like this is some sort of competitive thing with teenagers/early 20s boys who are full of energy. Who would ever think jawing would happen. Maybe they shouldn't touch on the field, as that could create bad feelings too.
James Franklin is a PUSSY! Plain and simple. Plus he's not a strong coach. I think that he was talking about the tunnel to divert the issue from his team getting their asses kicked in front of millions upon millions of people. He gets asked a question about how his team performed and he shifts to the tunnel. He's a pussy. If he's concerned about the jawing inside the tunnel then he should tell his players to shut the f**k up period. He should be able to control his own players. If he can't control his own players then he shouldn't be the f-ing head coach. This tunnel has been there for years, and visiting teams have gone through the tunnel thousands of times, and yes sometimes they get a little hot under the helmet but it's f-ing football, sometimes these things happen.
If he's concerned that his ladies on the team may get a little upset because someone looks at them funny then maybe they need to try the WNBA. If you haven't figured it out yet, Franklin pisses me off. He's talking about a two minute buffer between teams, give me a break. He should take his little candy ass team and become independent again and that way he can play only those teams that promises not to tackle them too hard. However, the good thing about PSU giving his dumb ass approximately 90 mil dollars is that now they are stuck with his no coaching stupid ass for years to come. IMHO!!!
Agree, Franklin needs the "pay no attention to the man behind the screen" strategy to deflect that he's got an atrocious record against ranked programs. He's a snake oil salesman...yep, he can sweet talk the family in the living room, but then can't back it up on the field. Hopefully, Detroit kids wise up to that and not bother going east. Fact is, with the talent that the Pedo State gets, they should be competing for playoff spots. Got to wonder when the powers that be say they've had enough of his underperforming. Remember when you would hear his name mentioned as the next USC coach, or NFL coach? That has died down quite a bit. They are on to him, he's average at best. Give sparty another year and their love fest with Mel will be over as well.
