Jake Moody will be known as Michigan best ever kicker, Harbaugh believes he should receive "legend status" and the NFL drafted him in the 3rd round. Jake was only the 2nd kicker drafted that high in the last 17 years.
It's hard to replace great but Michigan has some nice kickers on the roster and is bringing in a highly rated one in the 2023 class from Huron High in Ann Arbor. Though we didn't see much kicking going on during the Spring Game.
With another playoff quality team on the field, I guess Jimmy wanted a kicker with experience. Jimmy's style lends itself to a ton of field goals and one score games. Quietly this past weekend, Harbaugh hits the transfer portal and brings in local boy, James Turner from Louisville who grew up in Saline. James made 80% of his kicks at Louisville and when I heard that I got a little nervous, but Moody's percentage of makes was 82%, so that seems to track. James long kick is 50 yards, which means he has a good strong leg.
Welcome home James! No pressure but we need you to make every field goal and extra point.
