Night one and two of the NFL Draft are pretty cool, day three can be a little long, but day 3 is the time many big-name players get drafted. The Wolverines had a successful draft with 9 players taken.
R1, P26 - Mazi Smith, Dallas Cowboys
R2, P58 - Luke Schoonmaker, Dallas Cowboys
R2, P60 - DJ Turner, Cincinnati Bengals,
R3, P99 - Jake Moody, San Francisco 49'ers
R5, P151- Mike Morris, Seattle Seahawks
R5, P154 - Olu Oluwatimi, Seattle Seahawks
R6, P217 - Brad Robbins, Cincinnati Bengals
R7, P238 - Ryan Hayes, Miami Dolphins
R7, P253 - Ronnie Bell, San Francisco 49'ers
UDFA - Gemon Green, NY Giants
UDFA - Joel Honigford, Arizona Cardinals
I thought for a moment the Cowboys were going all Wolverines and the Eagles were going all Bulldogs. Cincy really loves Michigan defensive backs, from Leon Hall and Morgan Trent to Dax Hill and now DJ Turner.
Jake getting taken in the 3rd round is huge. What is the deal with the 4th round? No Wolverines were taken in that round!
I think Seattle is getting a steal in Mike Morris and Olu. Those are two professional football players that will have long careers. Even Michigan's punter got drafted! (Even though he didn't believe it!) Also happy for Ryan Hayes and Ronnie Bell getting to hear their names called.
- Even though the Wolverines are on their Spring/Summer vacation out East. Michigan 2024 recruiting never stops and the Wolverines got their Center in the 2024 class in Jake Guarnera who is 6'4 and 290 pounds. Jake is rated as a 3-star out of Ponte Vedra, FL but has a 4-star offer list including the likes Florida, FSU, Miami, NC State, UNC, UK, PSU, Pitt, Mizzu, MSU, UCF, Duke and Wake. Welcome big man and do you need at 4th at Sawgrass?
- The transfer portal is now closed. Which means players can't jump into the portal, but the players currently in can still find new programs.
- Speaking of the portal, MSU did not have a good Sunday when their starting QB Payton Thorne jumped in, so did thier top WR Keon Coleman, and starting DB Charles Brantley. If it wasn't for Kenny Walker, Mel Tucker would be in serious trouble in East Lansing. MSU has the 40th ranked 2024 recruiting class with 4 verbal recruits.

I been saying for a while now that K9 covered up a lot of flaws in the MSU program. Both roster wise and coaching. He made the roster seem better than it was and made Tuck look better than he really is. Problem with the portal, is there will be a handful of guys that are legit prospects and will go to a new program and prosper, some will even excel. But most are in the portal for a reason: they weren't good enough to crack the 2 deep at their current schools, so unless that drop down to D2 or D3, chances are they won't do much better at another FBS program
