Michigan Tuesday: Coaches Poll is Out

Michigan Football will be taking the field for the first time this season in 25 days.  The expectation for this season is as high as it's been for any Michigan team in probably 30 years.  The first indication of that is the Coaches Poll which was released yesterday.  Michigan is ranked #2 behind the 2-time defending National Champion Georgia Bulldogs.

That is a great honor but most football critics don't consider the Coaches Poll that accurate as Coaches work non-stop but only study the team they have and their next opponent.   We assume they don't have time on a Saturday to tune in to watch 2 or 3 other games.

The AP poll is considered more accurate as reporters have more time to watch games across the country.  That poll is not out yet and expected next Monday.

  • Brad Robbins is kicking bombs at Bengals camp.  I think he is competing with a former Ohio State punter who went viral for delivering Uber Eats on his bike this off season in downtown Cincinnati.
  • JJ is excited about the young WR's on the team: “Tyler Morris — he’s gonna make a big name for himself this year,” McCarthy said. “I’ve had that connection built since my sophomore year in high school. So he’s going to do great things. But also Peyton O’Leary. Darrius Clemons, the young bucks Fredrick Moore, Semaj Morgan, Karmello English — all those guys are showing up on tape. So they’re doing a great job. Coach Bell’s doing a great job coaching them up, same with Coach Goodrich. And it’s just been a lot of fun to see those guys kind of mold into their own.”
  • Buddy's Pizza has a new deal with U of M to sell pizza at sporting events.
  • The ACC is considering Stanford and CAL now.

So am I missing something? Why isn't the B1G going after Stanford and Cal and just make it an even 20.

It's an interesting question. Maybe they don't want to spread the $$ any thinner? I really thought the Domers would be the next invite. Maybe if they took Stanford and Cal and made one team out of them, they'd only suck half as bad? It'd be great to see Jimmy play his old team...maybe say something about how Stanford kids don't have to go to class, or don't have tough classes....then wink. perfect.
