When you try to hire good young coaches, their current employers get upset and sharpen their pencils. That happened yesterday when Stephen Adegoke decided to stay with the Texans after accepting the job of DB coach at Michigan. That is a tough one.
Update: Michigan is hiring Louisiana defensive coordinator LaMar Morgan as defensive backs coach. This is a good hire and the Jesse Minter recommendation. This now completes the hiring process for Michigan's on-field coaching staff. I'm sure there will still be other off the field staff still to be hired.
Then news comes out that Keon Sabb has entered the transfer portal. Word is Sabb did not expect that both Moore and Paige would return. So Sabb is probably looking for more playing time (no pun intended). Keon had 28 tackles and 2 picks this past season. This is another tough loss.
- There continues to be concern for Mike Hart and the private matter he is going through. Mike is one of my favorite Michigan players of all time and I hope his situation has a positive outcome and he can return soon. Please keep a good thought for Mike and his family.
- Now some good news: Brad Hawkins is expected to come back to Ann Arbor and be a GA on Coach Moore's staff.

Let's pray for Mike Hart🙏
Lamar Morgan took the DB job this morning. He was recommended by Jesse Minter I think he's a good young coach that could be the future defensive coordinator someday
Brad Hawkins was one of those guys that was really rough around the edges, but by the time he was done playing he was a really solid S. He and Josh Metellus kind of had the same arc. Struggled at times early, but developed into really solid S and for Josh, a solid NFL player with the Vikings! Think he's a good addition. A guy that might not necessarily had all the skill in the world but learned how to play the game and hopefully can pass that on to young players.
I think Hawkins came to Michigan as a WR and switched over to defense. The original Mikey Sainristil.
Adegoke used Michigan to get a nice pay raise.
Thoughts and prayers out to Mike Hart. Not sure what's going on, but sending out some positive vibes to him non the less.
Anybody else think Roman Wilson would make a nice addition to the Lions as a 3rd round pick? I think that's the same round Holmes got St. Brown. Not sure where he's projected to go, but I heard he had an impressive Senior Camp.
Brady, I don't know. I think the Lions have bigger needs, i.e. Edge(s), CB, IOL who can play G & C, and a DT. The issue is, Wilson's size and speed translate to slot receiver at the next level. Lions already have St Brown and Khalif Raymond, and I know the staff really likes Raymond. I just don't know if you can use that high a draft pick to take a guy that'll be fighting to get snaps let alone targets. If the Lions were to take a WR I'd think it would be more of an outside guy like DPJ. For all his physical tools, just not sure why DPJ hasn't done more in the league. Most thought it was the way the Michigan offense used him was why he was limited in college. Many scouts thought he would blossom in the NFL as his physical traits look to translate really well, but so far not so much!
Chowman- Right! After every game I was like, where was DPJ? I think early rounds we draft either a defensive end or shut down corner. My cousin wants to rent a hotel room for a day that overlooks Campus Martius and watch the draft from a distance. Idk
Lions need a corner like nobody's biz. Pathetic how bad Sutton is.
That's a bummer about Sabb, think he could have really been a standout, even this year. But oh well.
I'm happy in ways about where Mich is heading, but think we are going to have a couple 'rebuild' years. Hope I'm wrong.
Goblu, Sutton's not as bad as it seemed. He's a solid #2. He was forced to be a #1 when Mosley couldn't play. Plus Glenn had to adjust his game plans to generate a pass rush, i.e. blitz, so lots of man with no saftey over the top. If you look at the bulk of Glenn's play calling, he isn't much on blitzing, but the front 4 wasn't generating much pressure let alone sacks. The Leos had Hutch and a collection of orange construction barrels at DL. Alim McNeil is ok, but no Aaron Donald or Chris Jones. The rest of the DL were just out there. Pascal and Cominsky are just guys, not dudes. The rest are less than that. Put it this way a really good to elite pass rush makes your secondary better. An elite pass rush will make below average CBs average, make average above average and above average good! Getting back to Sutton, he was never billed a shut down corner, not what he was in Pittsburgh. He was a system CB that benefited from a good pass rush that didn't give QB all day to find open WRs.
I suspect Lions fans will be bummed on day 1. I would be mildly shocked if Holmes didn't trade out of the 1st round and pick up an extra pick. Where the Lions are drafting, its a great spot for a team to take a QB before the 2nd round. Remember 1st round picks get 5 year rookie deals as opposed to 4. Most teams want that 5th year flexibility with QBs. I've seen mocks where both Bo Nix and Michael Penix could still be on the board. Lions phones should be ringing from teams willing to move up to get one of those guys.
Would be interested to know if Sabb is another racer of tampering. Chasing the $ dragon.
