Michigan Thursday: So Far So Good For The New Secondary

Michigan has the highest rated player in the country in EA Sports College Football game in Will Johnson anchoring the 2024 secondary.   The loss of Safety Rod Moore and the NFL Draft left the Wolverines with needs in the secondary next season.  Michigan hit the transfer portal to find guys ready to contribute and Will gives his early observations

“All of them have been doing pretty good,” Johnson said. “Wes Walker, Aamir Hall, Ricky Johnson — all of those guys have been doing pretty well. I’m just excited.”

That list also includes former MSU starting safety transfer Jaden Mangham.

“There’s times where it gets brought up,” Johnson said. “He’s actually still graduating from Michigan State. So we always mess around with how he’s not getting that Michigan degree. It’s cool though. It’s kind of weird that he was able to do it. Excited to have him. He’s a very good player.

“We don’t talk about it too much but when we do talk about it, obviously it’s easy for us to talk shit.”

Of course Michigan doesn't start camp until the end of the month, so these practices and observations come through player led drills and practices.

  • This weekend might be Michigan's last huge recruiting weekend before games start.
  • On3 EJ Holland gives positive reviews of Michigan commit RB Donovan Johnson after watching a workout on his rehabbed injured knee.  EJ expects Johnson to have a very good season and maybe re-earn his 5 star status.
  • Vacation alert: I'm taking the family to Europe starting next week and will not be brining my laptop so please don't expect any posts between 7/25 and 8/4.  I look forward to catching up with you when I get back.

Bob, our fearless leader in Europe. What will we do? Hopefully this is not a Michael Corleone trip and you are not laying low for a while.
