Michigan Friday: The End of the Den

It looks like the MDen financial troubles have caught up with them and they are shutting down locations with the anticipated sale of the company.  The Freep reports they are at least $4M in debt.

As you know, I have many ties to the MDen and they even sponsored this blog for a short time.  This is heartbreaking for me and I hope a legit company comes in and continues the brand name and fixes the business issues.   As you know, this was a long time small Ann Arbor business.

I get asked a lot what happened?  I have no idea but if I had to guess, too much labor costs and physical store fronts.  They were very late on getting online and had issues with fulfillment.   This is not uncommon for retail companies who don't have a dominating online presence.

Best of luck to the entire organization.

  • Ohio State is starting Will Howard at QB
  • RG3 and Sam Ponder were let go from ESPN in a cost cutting move
  • Chris Evans is expected to be out for the season after suffering a knee injury in a joint practice with the Bears.

I know some really good people at the State Street location of the mden.. I really hope they don't replace those people if they do reorganize they should keep all those people.. the manager there is a great person and will do anything for you.. the whole staff there is very friendly

some may call it heresy, but I truly hope to see ESPN destroyed. Someone else will pop up where we can get our sports on, but ESPN is just a corrupt organization. On the outside, they are woke and know as much about politics as they do about sports. On the inside, they are all the things the proclaim not to be like mysogynists, incompetents, and racists (like Steven A). F ESPN and hope it burns.

LOL; let's not pretend what has happened. The liberal regulations and tax policy as well as anti-business policies did M-Den in. Whether the M-Den people want to admit it or not, liberal policies make small business extremely difficult to run. Rather, people go on Amazon (with virtual slave labor as an international corporation that isn't loyal to the USA) and order their crap to be delivered - soon by machines.
