Michigan Tuesday: Wishes Jack Tuttle Well

Jack Tuttle gave it one last college try.  It worked for a few minutes in Seattle and then it didn't.  He hurt his throwing arm in the off-season and suffered his 5th concussion of his 7-year college football career recently and now has decided to call it a career.  Jack offically retired from football last night. He wants to go into coaching and I hope Michigan has a grad assistant position available to him next year.

Now on to Sparty.  I won't throw the entire fan base under the bus, because there are smart and reasonable MSU Football fans.  They just don't seem to be on twitter ever.  I never hit the "For You" side of Twitter/X because there is always some dumb ass MSU Account saying the strangest stuff.   There are hundreds of these accounts.  I know Scott Bell uses these accounts for comedy but they are just out of control.   In fact, he shouldn't even retweet them because that is the only time I see them.

From these rouge MSU accounts, it seems the MSU fan base is happy with what happened on Saturday.  They lost a close game and there was a fight near the Michigan sideline.  Now, they have something to complain about.

I did learn something yesterday I did not know about the history of this rivalry.   It seems when Michigan State was being voted on to join the Big Ten.  The only school that voted No, was Michigan.  U of M thought that Pitt was a better option then Sparty.

Alan Haller MSU's new AD immediately called the Big Ten commissioner to cry about the fight.  Then some slappy MSU journalists are calling for Mullins to be suspended for stomping on an MSU player or staff member.  The only issue is, nobody can prove that Mullins was stomping on anyone and reports from near by police, say he was trying to break up the fracas and play peacemaker.

Remember when I said I prefer to dislike the MSU head coach?  Maybe we just focus that emotion on MSU's AD.  BTW, where is Warde?  The lack of leadership from him is just amazing.  Outside of the University President, Warde probably has the 2nd most important role in Ann Arbor.   In a corporate setting he would be on linked in right now looking for a new gig.  Not leading the CFP Committee.  Blind leading the Blind. Warde this year is on YOU! Last year, Harbaugh gets all the credit.  Sorry to break it to you.

  • Sherrone says Will has zero interest in shutting it down for the year
  • Of course, the combo of Warren/Orji will continue at QB
  • Michigan Basketball is selling $10 tickets to the season opener!  Support Dusty and this team!
  • Tuttle having an arm injury early in the off season is another reason Michigan should've gone as deep in the portal as necessary to find a QB.  I know the timing was not great with the National Champ run, late Harbaugh/JJ decision to go to the NFL.  But the odds were JJ was going and you have to plan for the future.  So that is not a valid excuse.

Bob: your take on the quarterback controversy explains the situation well. Sherrone should have realized he was likely down to two choices, a runner and a "walk on", should have done something. Sherrone was getting "accolades" for keeping them together. Is his I/Q high enough that he should have projected a quarterback problem in the fall, or too busy getting sub-standard assistant coaches. You are right, I tried to blame Harbaugh, but this is SHERRONES TEAM< and he whiffed it!

Read on another site that Tuttle's arm wasn't completely healed. If that's so he probably shouldn't of been out there. He's not a savior even when healthy and his career was over before he ever got to Michigan.

Scotty, not sure if its revisionist history, but some of the scuttlebutt I've heard/read is that Michigan did reach out to some players in the portal, but he uncertainty of the NoA from the NCAA played a role. Same reason for the coaching staff. Nobody wanted to come to AA if sanctions were coming down. You got Winky cause he had no other options as nobody wanted him.

Not getting Dante Moore was a real headscratcher. Play the NIL game and give him a few bucks.

Sherrone bought some time with the MSU win, but that could all dissappear with an embarrassing showing against Oregon.

God these MSU fans are annoying. Including the MSU hosts on 97.1 that are constantly hating on Michigan. Pat Caputo litterally said that MSU was "Dominating the rivalry." I checked, last 20 years UM has won 11 and Sparty 9.

If true, that eliminates the theory that Tuttle was going to be the starter coming into this season.

Jadyn Davis needs to get some game reps. I dont care if it's just one series or a few scripted plays. If he doesn't get any game experience this year, then that's another strike on Sherrone.

Brady: I might be on an island, but I didn't want Dante Moore. To me the guys a flake. His recruitment out of HS was nothing but drama, and don't want anyone like that. We didn't need the baggage that goes along with Dante Moore!

Here's my issue. Moore outcoached Smith. Or if you prefer Smith went smartest guy in the room. I have no idea why teams don't got 11 in the box when Orji is in the game. I'm covering every running lane and saying: you beat us with a pass, we'll tip our hat and go from there.

As far as 97.1: I was listening to Caputo on Saturday and I think he was talking the last 17 years. I think they only went back to when MSU started winning under Dantonio. Just sayin'

The stomp! I tried, but I only think there's the one view of the end of the game and I saw nothing that looked like that. Not saying it didn't happen, just haven't seen video. In lieu of video, then its a they said-we said deal. Generally those stories have 3 sides. Their side, our side and the truth!

As far as the dust up: think both sides were at fault. The MSU DE was an ass. Victory formation, you just let the QB kneel down and walk off the field. He jumped off the snap like he was going to do something, not sure what! Loveland gave him a bit of a shove and then he went hands to the face. Then Colston head butted him. Both guys handled it badly and it should of been a none issue.

Most of players from sides are not from state of Michigan...there are 60 players from MSU who are transfer students....what hell do they know about rivalry..just play the game and go home....

And that is why MSU is my OSU. If we're only going to win one game a year make it against Sparty. Then ND (when we played them) then OSU.

Chowman- Ok, so you heard it too. Man, I thought I was losing my marbles. Of course he's going to twist the numbers to fit his narrative.

Ya, Sharrone definitely outcoached Smith. Makes me wonder about Smith.

I didn't like him either. But I thought getting a local kid back home and offering lots of playing time would be a sure thing. Must be the money. Now I really hate that kid, he stiffed us twice!

Not on an island. I agree and this is where we're headed. Seems all like the kids coming out want to be courted. Sick of begging every swinging dick to sign with us. No one has thought this NIL and transfer portal bs through...

B10 weighed in and waved their hands at the melee. Both sides got chippy, both sides should have exercised better control. But to compare the pushing and shoving to the ass rape that took place in the tunnel a couple of years ago is just pure stupidity and desperation. Best just to be happy with a close loss and live to fight another day than to show what an absolute puss of a program sparty has become.
