Sherrone is struggling as Michigan's head coach. He has gone from top of the mountain to maybe the Music City Bowl. He does not know how to be the head coach of Michigan Football. It's a job that can't be your first head coaching role. Lloyd Carr was in the program for 100 years prior to the getting the job. We all know how it worked out for Gary Moeller. RR and Hoke had years of head coaching experience and couldn't handle the job.
Sherrone doesn't have anybody on staff he can lean on for advice. If Michigan had hired Jesse Minter he could talk to his dad who was a former longtime head coach and was on staff. He is now on staff for the Chargers. Biff was probably Jim's best friend on the team when he was on staff and many give him as much credit for turning around the Wolverines as Jim got.
Biff was fired as head coach of Charlotte yesterday in a strange/early Black Monday for college coaches. Don Brown who we all know was fired and so was Tom Herman at FAU. Of all those coaches, I would take Biff back at Michigan in a minute. He would be the perfect person to help Sherrone with the day to day head coaching duties. The problem is, I expect Jim will try to hire him as well.
I hope Wink's agent is contacting all 11 open head coaching jobs for an interview right now! My best guess is Don Brown will probably retire. For anyone thinking Tom Herman as Michigan OC, he is not a good coach and that is a hard pass from me.
- Michigan Basketball has a ton of talent and everyone can score. Those two things can lead to a ton of turnovers and Michigan is struggling with that right now. So many that Miami - Michigan was close at half-time, not so much in the 2nd half when Michigan took care of the ball. I loved that Dusty took out all 5 starters when they couldn't stop turning the ball over early in the game. This team needs to improve TO's, rebounding, and free throw shooting.
- It was expected, on Monday Ivan Taylor a 4 star Safety flipped from Michigan to Bama.
- If you didn't know Belleville lost to CC this weekend, so now Bryce can focus 100% on recruiting between now and signing day in a couple of weeks.

Don Brown = HARD PASS
Tom Herman = I'd kick the tires, he'd be an upgrade from Kirk Campbell.
Biff Poggi? I don't know I have a strong opinion. Always saw him as a recruiting gimmick. Jim used him to get into the fertile DMV recruiting grounds. I'm not sure what else he brought to the table????
Wink's not going anywhere but retirement. This is his last stop. Not 1 of the NFL teams that he hasn't coached for bothered to kick his tires. Like I've said, his approach is stale: 1 game plan fits all and better OCs can take his game plans apart. I just don't think he has the energy to be a top level DC anymore. He's just going thru the motions! It's not like Michigan can't come up with the money. Find a couple deep pocketed alums and buy him out.
Everyone (rightfully so), is complaining about level of quarterback play. Ihave not gone to, or watched a game on TV IN MANY MOONS > I can not make a sensible comment on wide receiver play. Are any of the wide receivers getting great separation? Or is the problem we can't get the ball to their "open arms. Only a guess, but Me thinks there is little to no separation, and the ball is too soon, too late and over/under thrown. A recipe for about the worst pass offense in top 130 teams. Throw in a leaky pass coverage and the fork is in the hot dog, ready to be served. (with lots of onions and mustard > relish too!
Forget about Biff and any more connections w Jimmy. The Harbaugh coaching tree ended when he went to LA and took every coach worth anything with him. Biff would be a band aid on an unfixable leak. If a head coach needs "helping", then they are not a head coach. Find a real head coach with connections that can build his own staff and identity.
It's a timing issue. Yes, the WRs are open, but there is a small window of opportunity to throw (for any QB). Unless you throw it right on time, then it's hard to get completions. Watch the small windows Mahomes and Brady threw into. In the NFL, a step and a half on a DB is considered wide open. You don't need 6 ft of separation.
I don't want Biff I would like to have some steak!!...Man there are so many OC out there we can get but, it doesn't matter because bad QB = bad OC!!
Blue for life!!
When I coached, primarily the DBs, the offense practiced out routes extensively. We practiced these routes so often the QB could litterally throw it w his eyes closed. The QB knew he had to throw the ball at the 2.5 to 3 second mark, and the ball had to be to the WR at the 4 count. The QB had to throw before the WR was making his break. If he waited half a second longer, forget about it. If a QB is looking for a WR just standing there, waving their arms, its over. It's like this for all patterns w different timing counts.
Warren looks like he's playing street ball, where he's waiting and looking for a WR to get himself wide open. A QB has to be COMMITTED to the timing. He should know before the ball is even snapped who should be open. It's all practice and repetition.
A head coach needs connections. Who does Sherrone know? How is he supposed dip into a coaching tree when he has none? This hire is looking more ridiculous as time goes on.
Brady, don't get me wrong, I would move on from Sherrone after the season ends. But to do so, someone would have to wake up Warde Van Winkle and let him know that the season has been a disaster. Keep in mind, you and I seem to be in the minority. Most of the fanbase seems to think he deserves at least 1 more year.
Scotty, so at times Warren has looked serviceable. At other times Shaq couldn't come down with his passes. As far as receivers, outside of Loveland and maybe Marlin Klein, the receivers have struggled at times to gain separation. Some of that can be play calling because at times Kirk Campbell's play calling make plain white toast look like Thai food! It's just hard to get separation when the D has a really good idea what's coming.
Chowman- It's demoralizing for WRs when they know they will be lucky to get only 1 or 2 balls a game. Hard to go 100% as a decoy all day.
and what you'd hire Biff for is to be a babysitter for Moore. If Sherrone Moore needs a babysitter, then just move on.
You mentioned earlier deep pocketed alumni. When Mark Bernstein and Denise Illitch and the rest of the regents start questioning Warde, he'll do something. But ya, us little guys don't really have a voice. The former players have a big influence, i have been told. You have guys like Jon O'Korn clowning the program on X, that's not good.
That's bad when Jon O'Korn feels he needs to clown the program
I think he makes a change after this season. But he should have a plan in place now for who he wants to hire. When I see reports of a search team doing research, a media circus of possibilities, etc , it really makes me question how good someone is as an AD at their job. After the R.R., Hoke, and now Sherrone hires, I sadly have little faith that a coaching change will be handled well.
He kind of clowned himself. He said you know things are bad when Michigan's starting QB is putting up worse numbers than he did. He said at least I beat Indiana.
Guys please, there will be no coaching change. Moor will get two more years. If and only if he has two more bad years he will be gone.
Blue for life
I think the Notice of Allegations might provide the added incentive to make a coaching change. I think Warde could use that against Sherrone to quiet any ney sayers that might be in his corner.
Not if he's named in the N.O.A.
Brady correct if there's a show clause concerning Moore. That would make him a 2 time offender and would leave Michigan no choice but to fire him. It's why I've said I've had a sneaky suspicion that Sherrone Moore was hired to be a patsy. Having a bad year is even a bonus as its punishment in itself. Warde and Ono and offer up Moore's head on a platter in hopes the NCAA deems that punishment enough. Campbell would go too! Michigan showing it's cutting ties with everyone that was connected to Jim Harbaugh and the sign stealing.
Yes
Sherone, Ward and Ono are all minorities in an awesome, but woke school. They are not about to start firing minorities. Best to hope for is that Sherone gets $$ to hire the best coaching staff away from the other programs.
Aimtubbs- I coached over 10 years and never once had race or ethnicity factor into anything. That's a narrow minded way of thinking.
