Were you upset at halftime? I was, that Michigan didn't learn shit from last week and was making the same mistakes. It was 7-7 and UW is known as a 2nd half team. Here are my notes (word for word):
-Ugly first half
-Same mistakes different game
-Wink is blitzing too much
-Why can't Michigan stop a 2nd or 3rd down a long?
-Too many injuries for both teams
-Bryce needs to put some touch on the ball
-Every time an announcer says Z is the best kicker in the country, he misses
-Morgan with another big drop
-Too cute on offense
- The defense is getting nickeled and dimed to death and then gives up a big play
-Best RB in the country being out might cost Michigan this game
-They are throwing to the TE's
Then Cole Sullivan changed the game. Yes, that play completely turned the game from a close game to a comfortable Michigan win.
Wink finally figured out that defensive players in a zone is a good thing against a dink and dunk passing attack. Chip also called a good game. Zach Marshall was so open, it felt like he was there alone for like 3 minutes.
Cheers:
- Making halftime adjustments and winning the game in the 2nd half
- Young guys stepping up on both sides of the ball
- Marsh will be a superstar here
- Marshall ran mad all day, I loved it!
- Michigan finally found the TE's
- Zach Marshall with a TD!
- Bryce played a pretty clean game and completed 78% of his passes
- OL stepped up most of the game
- Love me some Rolder
- As mentioned Sullivan's pick changed the game
- Derrick Moore with closing out the game
- The defense keeping the UW QB in the pocket and not letting him run all over the place
Jeers:
- Wink lets adjust a bit earlier. Your blitzing way too much. WAY TOO MUCH!
- Z lets go, its time to start making 100% of all your kicks
- Injuries WTF is going on?
- Moore and Hillman not dressed but not on the injury report?
- Michigan had a very sleepy start to the game
- Those officials could not spot a ball to save their lives
- Morgan's drop
- Link's bad injury and the UW TE
- Hill dropped a pick 6 early
Thank goodness Michigan woke up in the 2nd half, there were so many name I didn't recognize playing I had the roster up on my phone. Bryce gets better every game and I loved how they got the TE's involved early and often. That was a miss by Chip's offense early on.
The injures are a concern and I'm not sure why they are having so many. We need Justice back and we need defensive consistency to get to the OSU game without any more loses.
East Lansing on deck.

its not just that Wink blitz to much. they are simple blitzes. no imagination. no zone blitz. its just bring a LB most of the time. Wink brings the LB and both USC and Washington hit a big play where the LB vacated. Was the defense better? yeah, but that's classic Wink. after his D gets shellacked, he'll have a bounce back game. but he'll always get back to the DC that called the USC game. it's like he gets lazy and just wants to just roll out the same old game plan week in and week out. then he'll get punked and all of a sudden, he'll get creative. I hate Joel Klatt, but he did have a good point. Minter blitzed 33% of the time, and did a lot of zone blitzing. changing up who was blitzing. Wink, 50% clip and typically just blitzes a LB. and who else did that? does the name Don Brown ring a bell?
I know Washington was 5-1, but who did the play? Colorado St? UC-Davis? Washington st? Maryland? Rutgers? the only team on their early schedule with a pulse beat them and that's OSU. Rest of those teams were fluff. so now they played two teams with a pulse, and yes, we have a pulse and they lost.
A win is a good win, but I still have issues with Sheronne's game management. He's trending to be the next James Franklin. 4th and 2 and you don't take the FG? the OL hadn't exactly been blowing the opposition off the line of scrimmage. That and you lost your starting LT in the game. Didn't like the clock management at the end of the half either. after the first play went for nothing, you just run out the clock and play for the 2nd half.
I really don’t get our corners. Either they aren’t very good, or the scheming is horrible. Or both. They play so soft in both man and zone.
Game feels like was closer than score. Some luck. And great by Marshall and TE’s.
Good win from one of the Sherrone "Bo-Birds" .... did not follow it because a photographer was taken pics of house (preparing to sell). So, all the Washington turnovers in second half ..... was that the result of great Mich defense, or Washington mistakes > or combination? Like the synopsis of Chowman above.
Missed field goal was because of a bad snap. That's the third time this has happened this year.
