At the beginning of this season we all wanted "change" to be a sprint, on Saturday we found it is more of a marathon and we just started the race. There will be a lot more Saturday's like yesterday to come with this major change, none of us like it , but most of us agree this program needed change, big change. We have spent the last 40 years beating the Toldeo's of the world and all it brought us was one National Championship. Let's hope this change will bring something wonderful in 2 + years. You're right about "change," but let's be precise: the word only applies to the offense of Michigan, not the defense. The defense is NOT undertaking a radical, systemic shift that would excuse the poor play we've been seeing. They aren't the potent, dominating defense they are supposed to be--and there's no excuse for it. Except, maybe, that Shaffer was a bad hire.
You are right and the D has not been as dominating as we had hoped this year. On the other hand, they gave up two field goals against Toldedo and the Offense couldn't do crap.
