Michigan is losing both of it's kickers next year; Jason Gingell Kick Off Specialist and K.C. Lopata who handles the field goals.
Not to worry because Michigan has a verbal commitment from the #2 rated kicker in the country Anthony Fera! until he pulled his commitment and is now heading to Penn State. What kind of "Snake Oil" is that JoPa selling?
Now what? Michigan needs a kicker for next year or they better start hitting the intramural soccer team for some prospects.
Here are some of the prospects on Michigan's kicking radar: (yes, I have to have something to write about when your team is 2-7)
- Brendan Gibbons, West Palm Beach. Brendan was the top kicker at the Michigan's Kornblue kicking camp this summer. Brendan has gone 8-8 this season on field goals with the long of 51 yards and is rated 2 stars by Rivals.
- Igor Garcia of Everett, Mass. Igor was the top kicker in KornBlue's Fall Camp. Imagine the possibility's of Zoltan punting and Igor kicking field goals. This is a match made in heaven! Sign this guy up!!
- Nathan Freese from Strongsville, Ohio and local boy Kevin Muma from Troy are also being considered
One thing is for sure. With Michigan season ending in 3 weeks. The Michigan staff will have plenty of time to "kick it" with the potential Kickers.
