Question: What is one way to take the suspense out of signing day in February?
Answer: To enroll in January.
My theme for the Michigan program since the Northwestern loss is for potential recruits to enroll early at Michigan to get a jump on preparing for next year. Last year Michigan only had one recruit enroll early at that was Texas WR Darryl Stonum and he saw significant playing time. This year is very critical since Michigan is expected to play two Freshman quarterbacks next year.
Recruits that arrive early will get the benefit of Mike Barwis strength and conditioning program, un-scheduled practices that are run by the players, and Spring Ball. It's a huge advantage to have Freshman in early when you are re-building a program that lacks depth at many positions. Reports are that Michigan could only have 19 scholarship players on defensive return next year. That is a scary thought when you talk about depth on a defense.
So now on to the good news: Thanks to my friends at Mgoblog, here are the list of potential recruits that could enroll early. The names in Blue have recently confirmed that they are scheduled to be on campus at the end of December:
- Tate Forcier, QB
- Mike Jones, Safety
- Brandin Hawthorne, LB
- Vincent Smith, RB
- Vladimir Emilien, Safety
- Shavodrick Beaver, QB
- Will Campbell (recent de-commit but still considering U of M)
- Anthony LaLota, DE

Do you think a commitment from Will Campbell would help us land Jelani Jenkins? I always hear of Linebackers liking big D linemen in front of them to take on double teams and make the LB look good. Ray Lewis put up a big stink about the Ravens not having a big D line a few years back... Good Lord we need Big Will in the fold asap.
Also you could add to your right hand 2009 scroll that we should run more than 4 plays on offense. I can't wait to see Brian'd UFR. We literally had 4 plays on offense. The OSU DC was basically playing a game of rock, paper, scissors out there.
I think Sheridan only knew 4 plays. Can anyone tell me why the WR bubble screen to Odoms went for only 1 yard everytime we threw it to him. We ran that play like 10 times a game and he never broke it.
I think the commitment for Big Will would help Jelani. 5 Star guys like playing with other 5 star guys. See OSU's 2008 class as an example. I have also heard that Big Will might end up on the Offensive Line. I don't care either way, we just need him in A2!
