Michigan Football Recruiting Round Up

  • As I mentioned yesterday, Tony Jefferson, LB from California is planning a U of M official visit: "I have my first two visits lined up right now," Jefferson said. "I'm going to Florida (Sept. 18) and Oklahoma (Nov. 13). My last three visits will be to Notre Dame, Michigan and Penn State and I'll do unofficial visits to USC and UCLA.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing these out of state schools because I've heard so much about them but have never visited anywhere outside of the in-state schools. Right now, I'm open to all of them and no one leads right now. My trips and how the teams do on the field this year will play a big role."

  • Michigan Recruit Kenny Shaw will play in an All Star game at Disney World later this month: The event, which eventually will include 64 players, is a competition involving football's seven skill positions -- quarterback, running back, tight end, wide receiver, linebacker, cornerback and safety.Shaw is ranked ninth on Bill Buchalter's list of Florida's top 100 college football recruits. He has yet to commit to a school but is considering Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan and USF. He caught a Dr. Phillips-record 64 passes for 914 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

  • Michigan has shown recent interest in Ohio LB Cameron Ontko. Love the name!

  • MI CB Dior Mathis still has Oregon and MSU as his top two but doesn't plan on making a decision until after football season. So Michigan still has a chance for "Big" Will Campbell and other current Wolverines/former Cass Tech teammates to get in his ear. Dior still has Michigan in his top 4. Sometimes recruits like to take officials to places they have never been before. Let's hope Dior gets in his travel but goes to Ann Arbor to go to school and play football.

  • Michigan is expected to make Florida running back Brandon Gainer's next cut

  • Michigan has been talking with Ohio Linebacker Jewone Snow who is the son of former Wolverine great Garland Rivers. RR and staff haven't offered Snow yet but he does happen to go to the same school as potential 4 or 5 star 2011 DE recruit Steve Miller (Band). Sounds like a good package deal to me! :-) (HT: Varsity Blue)
