The Michigan Allegations: It's a Dead Issue

I can't believe the life this story as taken. The Free Press has taken something that every program does in nation and made it into a national story. There are things called non-countable hours which the Free Press article never mentions. Examples of non-countable hours are things like study hall, treatment, training table, etc.

The Free Press can't seem to get out of it's own way and are running headlines like this: As in Hoops case, Michigan investigates. Are you freaking kidding me? These allegations have nothing to do with the other. One was the Fab 5 taking money from a Detroit hustler, this is a team working hard. I know the newspaper industry is on it's last leg, but they have turned into the National Enquirer. In two weeks, I expect to see this headline. God wants Notre Dame to beat the overworked Wolverines!

Saturday can't get here soon enough and I hope the young Wolverines focus all this energy and hostility towards the game.

If you think Rich Rodriguez doesn't care about his players or doesn't know the rules, watch this video on his press conference today. You will see an emotional RR talk about Mike Barwis, the rules, Western Michigan, and his players.

On Saturday, look at the Michigan offense and defensive lineman and then compare them to other programs. The Michigan lineman are not overweight and very athletic. They can thank Mike Barwis for that. They also should be applauded for putting the work in during the off season.

I expect Michigan to look into this issue and find nothing and report that back to the NCAA. I also expect Michigan will not get any penalties from the NCAA. I don't have all the facts, but I would be very surprised if anything came of this. It's a dead issue.


(On a side note, these articles seem like a personal attack then investigated reporting)


BTW: I would like to see the Free Press reporters take questions like RR did today. They should not be immune to questions whether they truly did enough research in their article and understand what a non-countable hour is.

It's game week, let's start focusing on the start of the season.
