It Start's Tonight!

It's the most wonderful time of the year...................

Tonight kicks off the college football season. What could be better?

It's time for reporters to stop making news and start reporting on the game.

It's time to sit back in your favorite chair and watch football games that really mean something. There is even a top 25 battle late tonight when The Oregon Ducks travel to Boise State. Take a nap this afternoon and watch this game. Your boss won't mind if you catch a 1/2 an hour or 45 minutes sleep on your desk. Just tell him it's opening night!

So at 7:00 PM (EST) turn on ESPN, order your Pizza, root for Spurrier or against him and sit back and remember what's good in the world and that's college football!

  • Did I mention Pizza? The Motor City Bowl has been officially re-named: The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. They also have a new President at the helm and his name is Lloyd Carr. It seems Pizza and former U of M coaches as Presidents didn't go so well for the Tigers, heck that was a long time ago. No word if Michigan would be eligible to play in the Bowl if they have a losing record. Of course, that won't be an issue!

  • David Harris was a very good LB at Michigan. I knew when the Jets drafted him they were getting a steal! Now the Denver Broncos want David in exchange for one of the best WR's in the game: Brandon Marshall. The Jets don't want to trade David and neither would I.

  • Kyle Prater the top WR in the country picked USC yesterday. Kyle had visited Michigan and had some interest in the Wolverines for about 10 minutes when he knew Devin Gardner was heading to Ann Arbor.

  • Former MSU WR Charles Rodgers seems ready to make a comeback and looks like he is heading to the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

  • Highly rated California LB/RB Anthony Barr has Michigan is his final 5: "I've pretty much narrowed my schools down to Notre Dame, Michigan, California, USC and UCLA," Barr told Scout.com in late August. "Those are the schools that I think are the best fits for me and where I think I could make an impact early on."

  • Former Wolverine Sam McGuffie is running track at Rice and wants to join the baseball team. He also isn't interested in talking about Michigan's work out rules.

  • Chris Rock (not that Chris Rock) got a 2011 Michigan offer in the mail this week. He is a 6"5 250 pound defensive end from Columbus, Ohio.

Check back here this afternoon for my regular Thursday traditional Big Ten Picks of the week.
