Michigan Tuesday: Recruiting Blitz

It seems we are getting a clearer view of the Demar Dorsey situation.  Per his high school head coach, "Demar is an NCAA qualifier with a 2.5 or 2.6 GPA and an 18 score on the ACT," said James. "But he hasn't yet been granted at Michigan."  So it sounds like Demar's past run in's with the law might be affecting his admission to Michigan.   "It's very possible," James added. "I've been talking with the coaches [at Michigan] and they continue to work on it."

So what it sounds like is happening is the Michigan admission office or someone at Michigan is holding up Dorsey's enrollment.   If Michigan offered him a scholarship, he signed his LOI to attend Michigan, then there were academic hurdles that he was required accomplish, which he did and you still don't allow him to admission to Michigan?  Then there is something wrong.

If you don't feel this young man is a fit at Michigan, then fine.  Don't offer him a scholarship or don't recruit him hard right up until signing day.   Do your research and stick by your word.  This kid got in trouble years ago, not last week.  Michigan has a chance to fix this (if the above statements from his coach are true), lets hope they make the right decision.  (*my above statements are all based on the information we have right now, if something has happened with the law or another situation since he signed, then all bets are off)

  • Michigan LB recruit Ben Kline committed to Pitt yesterday.

  • TomVH from Mgoblog runs down DeAnthony Arnett's brother and it seems Michigan is now out of the picture.  His top 6 are USC, Cal, Oklahoma, MSU, Tennessee, and Iowa.   He feels the Michigan offense won't get him to the next level.   I expect Arnett will end up at Michigan State.

  • OSU lands another recruit Joel Hale a defensive tackle from Indiana.

  • Cincinnati LB Sean Duggan will visit Michigan on Thursday with his family.

  • Michigan verbal Shawn Conway is a 3 star prospect on Rivals now.  He has a good chance to move up to 4 stars with a strong senior season.

  • Chris Rock is a 3 star as well on Rivals and like Conway could end up as a 4 star after next season.
