Wolverine Wednesday: NFL Is a Tough Business

I feel bad for guys like Mike Shaw and Troy Woolfolk, they weren't drafted but quickly signed free agent deals after the draft.   The NFL is an easy come - easy go business.  Mike Shaw was released the first day of the rookie camp by the Redskins and yesterday the Cowboys released Troy.   The Cowboys signed a former 4th round CB draft pick that they cut last year and was picked up by Jacksonville and then released again yesterday.

David Molk signed a deal with the Chargers yesterday, terms were not disclosed.  Congrats David!  I fully expect this 7th rounder to make the team.   Molk joins Mike Martin, Junior Hemingway and Ryan Van Bergen as recent Michigan seniors still with an NFL team.

  • Michigan has offered 2013 WR Csont'e York from Harper Woods and Chandler Park Academy.  Csont'e has been doing very well at camps lately including the Nike camp in Columbus last weekend.  He visited Ann Arbor yesterday and was offered while in town.   He was surprised at the offer and is interested in the Wolverines.   He grew up a State fan but is considering his options and will take awhile before making a decision.   He is 6'3 and 185 pounds and before the Michigan offer only had offers from Cincinnati and Syracuse.  He is not ranked by Rivals and does not carry a star ranking.  It's clear that the Michigan staff is going to be aggressive on getting two more WR's in this class and will not wait for the high profile guys to take all their visits and make a decision late in the process.
