Wolverine Wednesday: Lost a 2014 Recruit

Denzel Ward a 2014 offensive line recruit is no longer part of Michigan's class.   The Michigan coaches were in early on the 6'8 290 pound offensive lineman  from Chicago who was a bit of a under the radar type of recruit.  He hadn't played much football when he committed to Michigan and his only other offer was from Purdue.

Then in his mind, Denzel Ward became Denzel Washington.  More and more programs took notice.  He got offers from the likes of Florida, OSU, Wisconsin and Arizona State.   He also transferred from his high school in Chicago to the IMG Academy in Florida.  I had no idea the IMG Academy was a real school, I thought it was a training facility for professional athletes.  As you may or may not know, IMG represents a number of high profile professional athletes.

The "word" from insiders is that Denzel burned some bridges with the Michigan coaches and Michigan dropped him from their commitment list.  One of the issues might have been that Denzel recently visited Florida, which is an issue under Michigan's no visit for committed recruits policy.   At this point, Michigan is no longer recruiting Denzel.
