Many recruiting insiders have a tight race between local Virginia Tech and The Wolverines for Mr. Hand's services on signing day. Da'Shawn is considering a visit for the BBQ at the Big House and has already confirmed an official visit to Ann Arbor for the ND UTL game.
OSU recruiting insiders are excited because Da'Shawn will visit OSU this weekend. The reason he is visiting is because Nike has their regular combine in Columbus and he will be heading over for that. Many players do these events to earn an invite to Nike's Opening which is an all expense paid trip to Nike's HQ and great exposure for all the recruits. While he is there, he will visit OSU's campus and meet with the coaches.
Should Wolverines fans be worried about Da'Shawn being in Columbus? No, not really. Da'Shawn has been telling teams out of his top 5 that he isn't interested. He doesn't want to waste anyone's time, including his own. His top 5 right now are: Michigan, VT, Alabama, Florida and South Carolina. Urban Meyer is a one of the best recruiters in the country, so anything can happen but I expect his top 5 will be the same after his trip this weekend.
What does the newest Michigan recruit think about recruiting Da'Shawn?
"Oh yeah. Tell Da'Shawn Hand I'm coming," Peppers said. "They call me, 'Commish.' Commissioner Peppers. Malik McDowell. Da'Shawn Hand. You need those defensive linemen."
"A great defensive line makes a great DB and a great defensive secondary. Those guys are definitely on my radar. I'm coming strong. Emphasis on strong."
There is also an Elite 11 camp in Columbus this weekend but it seems Wilton is not planning on attending. There have been a couple of reports he was considering it.
Other Michigan commits that will be in C-Bus this weekend include: LB Michael Ferns and TE Ian Bunting.
Like Jabrill says above, don't forget Michigan has another Big Time DE in their own backyard in Malik McDowell. MM keeps his recruitment very quiet and is not expect to make the trip down south this weekend.
