Michigan Thursday: Wonders About The Strategy?

John Beilein has some tough decisions to make this weekend.   If his teams is successful they will play 3 games in 3 days.  Then have to get ready for the NCAA Tournament on Thursday or Friday.   Most of the time the NCAA does consider if a team plays on Sunday, they give them the Friday game.

Michigan's (first game) in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament will probably be against an Indiana team that matches up very well against the Wolverines.   Michigan will have been off for 6 days and IU will have played the day before if they can get a win over Illinois.   That should help Michigan, even though it will be somewhat of a home game for IU in Indy.

Michigan had a similar tournament run in Puerto Rico this winter and was clearly tired in the final game and got upset (with McGary).

If Michigan were to get upset by the Hoosiers on Noon on Friday they will be home in Ann Arbor for a late dinner.  Update:  Illinois beat IU 64-54

There is also the phisolphy that if your a "hot" team you want to keep playing and keep winning.   It seems winning the Big Ten Tourney doesn't really cause you negative effects in the NCAA.

So I'm in for winning it all this weekend, but I expect we will see more Spike, Zak and even some Max.

Michigan's ceiling is a 2 seed in the NCAA the basement is a 3.

  • Michigan had their pro day yesterday.  It seems Fitz and Thomas Gordon ran well and Black put up 225 pounds 29 times on the bench.

  • Don't be concerned if there isn't a ton of news coming out of Spring Practice right now.  No news is good news.  This team needs to lock the doors a little bit, work on fundamentals and get better.

  • Lamar Woodley got released by the Steelers.  It sound like Oakland is interested.
