Wolverine Wednesday: Wheat Update and Other Recruiting Notes

Ty Wheatley Jr. continues to be a top prospect for the Wolverines.  He plays TE and DE in high school and Michigan just picked up a commitment from 5 star WR Chris Clark.   Many wondered if that commitment could effect how The Wolverines stood in his recruitment?  Wheat Jr. recently told Sam Webb he knows Chris and his commitment won't have any impact on his recruitment.

His recruitment seems far from over as he is planning officials to Michigan, Alabama, USC, UCLA, and Miami.

  • Michigan continues to high on the list for 4 star WR Auden Tate from Tampa.  Auden is expected to make a decision next month from a list of Michigan, FSU, Florida and South Carolina.

  • Look for a big day for the Buckeyes as they probably land 2 out of the 3 top recruits committing today.  (Cornell, Hilliard, & Boykins)

  • Michigan will lose one big recruiter at the Opening as Chris Clark had to withdraw due to a family issue.  He originally had planned to commit at The Opening.

  • ESPN's Jeff Goodman thought GR3 made the wrong decision on entering the draft going #40.  You can make that case, but I guess we will have to see how his career plays out.  His theory is, if GR3 stays at Michigan he would be the #1 offensive option.   I'm not sure that would have been true in Coach B's offense.  Glenn doesn't seem to be a player that creates his own offense.

you make a good point with GR3 not making his own offense. I believe that is why he slipped into the 2nd rd. Had he come back, he would have had a golden opportunity to show he can (or he can't). Most thought Hardaway was making a mistake but turned out well for him, so who knows. Following Michigan bball you always saw Hardaways dad but only occasionally did I the Big Dog.

Former Michigan RB target (2012 class) who committed to Iowa, recently transferred to JUCO in CA.. Was arrested for an armed home invasion in his home town of Erie, PA.

So sad, these kids who have golden opportunities staring them in the face, free education at great schools and a chance to be groomed for a shot at the NFL... shoot themselves in the foot, figuratively.

Glad he chose Iowa of Michigan.

Greg Garmon is the name of the young man my last post was about. The story behind his HS career is the kid survived childhood cancer... To defy those odds and not make the most of the talent and ability God blessed him with.... tragic!
