Beat At Thier Own Game

It's 10:15pm and start of the 4th quarter and the game is over.

Tonight Michigan got beat at their own game.   Notre Dame's dual threat QB didn't let Michigan's pressure get to him and got rid of the ball quickly for first downs to keep drives alive.   Michigan's dual threat QB didn't.  Devin Gardner held the ball way too long all night and turned it over and over.  As I write that sentence, he throws his second INT of the night.

Our DB's were over matched all night.  Even our best cornerback couldn't stop ND's passing game.   I wrote on Friday that Michigan getting it's pass rush to Golson was the key to the game.  They didn't get there and Michigan got blown out.

Wile's two field goal attempts were awful.

Coach Nuss tried to run the ball way too much when it was obviously ND's defensive line was winning the line of scrimmage.  Michigan had to be much more aggressive on 1st and 2nd downs and they just weren't.   In this game, they had to throw to run and they just didn't.  It was obvious to everyone when Michigan was going to pass and ND blitzed.   I thought the offensive line held up pretty well in the pass game, Devin just held the ball way too long.

Michigan's offense just can't continue to play like this and think the defense will hold up.

Devin has to learn to throw the damn ball away!

If Coach Hoke is going to be Michigan's coach long term, he has to learn how to win on the road.  This is getting ridiculous.   These teams are very similar and it looked like ND played a FCS school tonight.

Now it looks like Funches has turned an ankle and tonight has officially gone as bad as it could go.

Unfortunately our Oline is one of the main weaknesses tonight. If hoke can't figure out how to win on the road he will be gone. The worst part is I don't think ND is that good.

Tell me again how you think G.M. is one of the best DC in the country.
His defense couldn't stop anything.
Time for him and Hoke to pack their bags.

Thanks for allowing me to comment, unlike mgoblog.
I'll say this:
I've been around a while. This is by far the most embarrassing loss I've ever seen. Worse than last year's loss at MSU, worse than losing when we were ranked #2 during the Bo years.

Secondly, this is Hoke's 4th year. The only certainty in a coach's 4th year is there are no more excuses. Hoke has got to go. Now.

I think you're right about Gardner. He's very talented but at key moments, he makes boneheaded decisions. He had 3 turnovers that were purely his fault - the last one doesn't really count. He doesn't have good instincts regarding when to get out of the pocket or get rid of the ball. On one play, this led to the pass/fumble and a big loss. His mistakes killed 4 drives and also led directly to 10 ND points.

I like Gardner and he still has immense potential. Some games he puts it all together. But I'm beginning to doubt his ability to be an elite QB in big games.

But this game wasn't all his fault. The defensive secondary gave up numerous big plays. The offensive line, while improved, didn't open big holes. Every key call or break when ND's way.

All in all, ND didn't dominate as the score suggests. Michigan moved the ball well and played decent defense for the most part. They out gained ND! Michigan squandered every scoring opportunity while ND made the most of every one. Michigan should have had at least 9 points on the board from FG's. ND had 10 points gift-wrapped from the refs. Then there's the turnovers.

There's still hope that this season can turn around. But Hoke's running out of time.

Wow what a terrible night & now morning. It's sick DBrandon & BHoke need to step aside DB only cares about sales of block M things great go run the fucking Mden counters & Brady wants to be the players dads & not a real coach. This is Michigan .... On FIRE. Pull the trigger on these 2 clowns & get 2 BRINKS trucks out Jimmy's H house after his game tonight. So sad.

Michigan State, Ohio State, and Michigan lose ... oh Northwestern and Purdue too.

The Big 10 is a basketball conference.

I know this goes WAY back.... but how the hell did Carr announce his retirement without he, the AD and president already having a success secured? That's really where this F'ing mess started!

If Brady was coaching Ball State yesterday, they would have won. I personally think he should go back there.

I'm understanding more and more what Lion's fans must feel like.

This mess has gone on too long. I would much rather see John over Jim H. as the next coach.

Well....Looks like, as expected Borges wasn't the entire problem. The situation should be stepped up to right now. I wonder who made the decision not to pull Gardener and not go for it on 4th down in the 1st Q???

Here's the plan - I'll tell Brandon tomorrow

Fire Hoke now - not working, never will - nice guy, good cheerleader, not at all pretty

Make Madison and, or Nussmeyer interim coach for rest of season

Fire Funk now - should have happened after the O-line sucked last year (might as well fire all the SDSU guys too!)

Time for Jackson to go - He can go to EMU

Send the O-Line to Barwis for "special work" vs. the Wellman S&C program- Perhaps he can help them to not get pushed around by
everybody...And motivate them

Do whatever it fricken takes to hire Harbough after his superbowl win

If not hire CMU's coach....O-Line and Rawls looked great....lol

Bielema fired W's O-line coach two games in in 2012 and it saved their season! Something dramatic should be done to save the recruits. The enthusiasm of the team once they were down reminded me of last year's bowl game - They needed a "Bo type" getting in their faces instead of clapping and a pat on the butt!
