Dead Man Walking

To think that Shane Morris was a viable option after the say the third series is a clear sign the Michigan coaches are brain dead.

Its hard to find words anymore.   What a complete cluster this has become.

I honestly don't know if I can watch another Michigan game coached by Brady Hoke.

RIP
This season
Brady Hoke's coaching career
David Brandon's AD job
Bowl Games
Big House attendance
Michigan jersey sales

Someone wake me when this nightmare is over.

When does basketball season start?

A complete train wreck on both sides of the ball.

I guess you're not blaming Al Borges anymore.

Yep, this season is over, (lol) "they still can win championship". You previous call for Hoke to be removed is valid, but won't happen unfortunately... maybe we should all switch to Michigan softball... they are consistently winners and great athletes.

Total embarrassment. Brady's only success was when he took over RR's team.... Send this guy back to Dayton.

What an embarrassing and pathetic performance by Michigan football at the Big House today. Hoke keeps talking about winning big 10 championships and so forth and blah blah blah and his team can't even show up at home for a mediocre team. How about scoring a TD here and there, get few extra 1st downs and try to beat the next opponent on the schedule before talking about championships. What a clown. Hey coach Choke: You have to crawl before you walk. This whole coaching staff and AD needs firing ASAP. It's disheartening to see this once storied and dominating program to fall this bad.

These flat performances go beyond X’s and O’s and execution both of which are horrible. This isn’t a team. It is a group of individuals. Nobody has any focus. There is no intensity. There is no heart. There is no communication at any level. They get on the field, go through the motions, come back to the bench, and mope alone. This is a lost locker room.

I am sick they had Morris play injured. The lack of response on 55 after that dirty hit is as appalling. Gardner’s behavior was not that of a leader. The lack of mentoring from Gardner was bullshit. He deserved to be benched and should have owned it like a man instead of pouting. The fact they allow him wear the number of a legend is disgraceful.

Offense: QBs…neither can hit the broad side of a barn and have no awareness. OL…very soft. RBs…inconsistent vision and toughness. WRs…cannot separate. Vanilla and predicable play calling…standard protocol. It doesn’t matter who the QB is. The play calling is shit (80% of the time 1st and 2nd down run, and 3rd and short pass/3rd and long inside draw from shotgun formation). The execution is shit (although it is really predictable, so…). The only explanation for two OC’s with solid background before coming to AA, but suddenly being unable to call a game is that they are being forced to run an offense that isn’t compatible for the modern game.

Defense: no awareness and inconsistent toughness. GMatt is a series or two too slow to make adjustments.

Special Teams: Old fashioned and pathetic...

It is past the point of anger. All I can do is shake my head and laugh.

I literally started laughing reading this article.

You summed it up perfectly, the Michigan coaches are brain dead.

Eric carbajal, still thinking this team is much improved in every phase of the game?

First off Bob great article as usual this blog explains everything that us Wolverine fans are thinking...when Rich Rod left I just wanted someone who's not bring back the tradition the history everything it means to be a Michigan man..after that I want to win I want to be a dominant team in the Big Ten and a team nationally...like everybody said Brady Hoke is a great guy but it's all about wins and losing to Minnesota at home I'm sorry that's the nail in the coffin...clearly to be a good team in the NCAA it's all about bringing in high end recruits and I worry that these embarrassing losses and all the talk of coaches being fired will make kids run away from Michigan...One thing I want to talk about recruiting is let's be clear Shane and Devon were both five star recruits really...as for who's the next coach I've heard that Jim and John Harbaugh's,Les Miles I don't know...

Time to think of what needs to be done.....

My thoughts are:

Make Mattison interim - Gain stability leadership, passion, and decision making - Perhaps keep if things turn around quickly....Go after Harbough, etc.

- Fire Funk - O-line, despite some of the best recruits in the country is awful.

- Fire Jackson - Sad, but it's time...who know's where the RB's are going - peel off blocks for short outlet passes...where has that gone?

- Fire Wellman or, if he's good (hard to read), get someone else to work on the type of strengh the Lineman need (send them to Barwis)

- Fire Ferringo - Have to say wtf way too much on special teams

How could anyone have thought bring a bunch of "buddies" from a WAC program would get the coaching deserved for what M pays?

Ok......I feel better now, time to go about my day - Perhaps I'll find a way to spend the $10/ticket that I got for my two extra tickets yesterday...sad

Gotta agree with M go clean...there is an old saying...if it ain't broke don't fix...oh ITS BROKEN...come on losing to Minni at home...he'll even Kansas saw it broke and fired Weiss...and here we are believing "we can still win the big 10"....as said by espn COME ON MAN

Mattison...temp hc? I guess we have sunk that low. I can't remember the last time the importance of having to beat a "Rutgers" as being monumental.

Make Hoke the recruiting coordinator and start the process of looking for a HC. I wonder what DB has on his list of things Hoke has to do or not do to keep his job? Lose to a "Rutgers"? miss out on going to a bowl? I bet we can't be that far from not making a bowl.

This team is looking for at least 3 more losses.

kansas fired wiess mid season, but then again, they got embarrassed by a mediocre team at home...

Oh, wait.....

A few thoughts... As many of u mentioned recruiting top end talent is critical to be a national contender. Although Hoke can recruit I don't see how he makes it another season based off what we have scene. So, if you keep him until the end of the season the amount of negative recruiting would be incredible. I just don't see how any top recruit would commit amongst all the uncertainty. I haven't been very impressed with Doug as our OC but all indications are that he could be a great head coach some day. Why not fire Hoke, hire Doug as a interm and see what he can do. Then at the end of the season you will have options as to either stick with Doug or go get someone else. There is NO way Greg will stay if Hoke goes. No chance. Thoughts?

Greg Mattison can follow behind Hoke. His D hasn't produced as advertised. Very disappointing to say the least. Need fresh start across the board period.

Big35Hurt said...

Brad.....are you kidding me?!?!?!? "Make Doug interim". Please give me ONE REASON why that would make even 1 bit of sense? Does the worst offensive coordinator in Michigan history deserve a promotion? Will that solve anything? Get a clue....oh, and it's spelled SEEN, not scene.

Comparing O-Line's - Minnesota's O-Line was so superior to Michigan's in both run and pass that I felt compelled to compare linemen below, and found that they probably should be superior. However, given how pathetic Michigan's were I still think we need a change at O-Line coach and S&C coach. Perhaps Minnesota's would like a big raise!

Big35Hurt: Nice catch on the spelling... I will try to be more careful. Question for you: If not coach Nuss, who? Typically an interim coach is on the existing staff. As I mentioned I don't see Mattison sticking around if Hoke is fired. Not sure who is left? BTW, there is a way to bounce ideas and discuss, and a way to be an asshole. Do what you want but "get a clue" to me is being an asshole. Just throwing out ideas. Sorry to offend you.

Mattison will stay....900k and interim HC will show his loyalty.

If anyone remembers when Coach MO was in the middle of his mess and before he got fired. Coach Carr was interviewed and was depressed and upset. He was backing MO and really looked like he was on team MO....I thought, from watching the interview, that Carr would leave with MO. I like CC and he did and does do a lot of great things off the field that nobody hears about. But when MO got fired and they put Carr in as the interim HC....in one interview he was smiles, happy....talked about the program and how he was ready to lead the team. Nothing about MO, no sadness from his buddy getting fired, just happy happy happy. We will see about Mattison if he gets to fill in as HC. Second point...has anyone really looked at Mattisons resume? He has been on some good teams, but the Raven gig was short and it looked like he got demoted from DC back to LB coach. Not sure if I read that right.

Scott K said...

Nuss has had great success at WA and AL, he was widely talked about for several HC positions in the past couple years... On the current staff, I would agree he's the most likely candidate. Mattison has been in coaching since 1976 and has never been a head coach and at this point in his career, I doubt he has any interest.

I have been saying, since last season, John Harbaugh is the best option. I have even heard that there are rumors in Baltimore that he wants to coach in A2. This weekend there have been numerous articles pointing to John as one of the top candidates for the J. Ira and Nick Harris Family Head Coaching position. Apparently I might have had a clue, or at least the same idea as a few others, including people who make a living writing about college football.

None of these possibilities take place until Dave Brandon is axed... That is step #1. You see that happen, and then the rest ofthe plot will play out.

Scott K said...

Brady being a 'players coach' that f'ing goes out the window when he leaves Morris in the game when he is limping like fester from gunsmoke, and takes a helmet to the chin and can barely stand...

To make matters worse, he doesn't have a back up 'other than Morris' ready to go in after he puts gardner in, so when the helmet comes off, Russ Belamy can't even find his friggin' helmet and Morris has to go back in, hobbling on one foot, wondering if they're home or away.. Brady claims he 'didn't see Morris get hit'. I guess that's like Gibbons staying home from the bowl game because of a family issue, which ended up being a sexual assault issue.

I would think, for the safety of the kids, that would be an offense worth of termination! U would think Nuss would have gotten in Brady's grill, for allowing this to happen.

M go Clean said...

If Bo saw all that is going on do you think that he'd stand there, clap, and give a pat on the butt..........I think not! WWBD

Forgot about Gibbons....not sure who to blame, but have a couple of close buddies with ties to UM that refuse to follow UM until after BH and DB are gone. They are that pissed over that cover up. Funny how that got swept under the rug.
Another question, did RR really only practice the team 15 minutes over and he got hammered for that or was there more? I see that Rosenturd from the Free Press was one of the people who "broke" that story and I see now that he is a Senior Writer for Sports Illustrated.....hhmmmmm....
