The Battle For The Little Brown Jug Preview

Time: 3:30
Location: Big House
Weather: 77/52 clear
TV: ABC
Line: -13 Michigan

How the hell is Michigan favored by nearly two touchdowns?  I guess Vegas is counting on Michigan's defense to score a lot of points.

No need to recap where Michigan is as a program right now.  We all know to well.  So does every team Michigan plays.   Stop me if you heard this before:  The key to stopping Michigan's offense is keeping guys in the box and stopping the run.  They won't be able to beat you through the air.

Tale of the Tape is irrelevant this week.   Michigan is terrible on offense and pretty good on defense.   If Michigan can run the ball and not have mental lapses in special teams, they should be ok.

Guys, I don't know what to tell you about this team. Week 1 the offense looked decent against a very poor App State team, after that it hasn't been able to do anything.   We don't know who is going play QB whether it's the 5th year senior or are they going to give the sophomore a shot.   I'm not sure it matters.

This golden gophers is getting better but their not great.   There are really only two story lines in the game.  Will Minnesota take advantage of Michigan's down turn and take the Little Brown Jug home? Did Brady Hoke take another step closer to being out of a job?

I don't have any answers on offense and realize that Coach Nuss is a well known OC but...................
  • Run more shotgun
  • Make sure there is always a RB, FB or TE that the QB can dump the ball to under pressure
  • Throw some screens
  • Try a few deep balls against single coverage
  • Give the QB quick short read passes
  • Pass on first and second downs (screens!!!)
  • Put Butt and Funchess on the field together
I don't care who Michigan is playing, this team can't make up a deficit against anyone.  Minnesota isn't that great but Michigan has proved you don't have to be to win in the Big House.  This team is either going to play with pride and try to turn it around or will start operation shut down.  I think it could be a 50/50 chance of either happening.

Minnesota has nothing to lose and sees a great opportunity to get back a trophy that they hardly ever get to keep.   They are going to throw the kitchen sink at Michigan in trying to get that trophy.  If Michigan doesn't come to play, Hoke might not make it till Tuesday.   This is going to be an ugly game against two bad teams.   Brandon should offer all season ticket holders two cokes and $150 refund.

Michigan 10 Minnesota 9

I think the team will be fired up and will come out, lead by the defense, and put on a show.

No illusions about how dire the straights are for Michigan football right now, but there are a lot of talented, proud kids who are due to make a statement. Minn being a run first, run second and run third offense, plays into the only strength we've shown this year.

Go Blue... lets have a good Saturday this week, cuz there may not be a lot of them this season.
