Michigan Thursday: Why Wouldn't You Attack The Day?

Attacking this day with Enthusiasm Unknown to Mankind
— Coach Harbaugh (@CoachJim4UM) January 15, 2015

Today is the first day coaches can hit the road and recruit kids for this and future classes.  (I thought today was the last day of the dead period, actually it ended last night the 14th).  There are 19 days before signing day (2/4) and Michigan has 6 spots in this class open and plenty of needs.   Each weekend left in January will be huge for the Wolverines and closing this class.  Chris Clark, Roquan Smith, Damon Arnette will be in this weekend and Iman Marshall is in on Monday.

  • Jimmy spoke to FL Athlete/WR Ryan Davis last night and offered him.  He is a 4 star WR to Rivals.  Has offers from Bama, Florida, FSU, etc.

Instate offensive lineman David Moorman is an interesting prospect.  He is 6'5 and nearly 300 pounds, has been a Wisconsin commit for some time.  As you know, Wisky has had a ton of turnover in their coaching staff and his offensive line coach is gone.   He is still committed but is looking around and Penn State offered him last night.   He lives in Northville and has mostly offers from MAC schools, Cincinnati, Minnesota and Illinois.   He is rated 3 stars by Rivals and does not have an offer from MSU or Michigan.   "There's been nothing official and I haven't heard from anyone on (Michigan's) staff, but if they called I'd seriously listen to what they had to say. I know Jim Harbaugh's a great coach. It would be an honor to get an offer from Michigan."

Another instate prospect Michigan is looking at is athlete John Kelly who is ranked 3 stars by Rivals.  John who is a good friend with Mike Weber will visit Tennessee this weekend, Minnesota on the 23rd, and MSU the last weekend of January.   So it might be difficult to get him on campus, but of course he could do a visit mid-week as well.

  • Dantonio and Harbaugh will be in the same room on Friday at The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Clinic.  Jimmy talks at 8:45 and Dantonio speaks at 10:45.

  • Funchess shows up a #26 on Kiper's Big Board

  • Jake Ryan and Devin Gardner are both at the East/West Shrine game,  reports so far have been less then positive.   Devin is there as a WR.

Bob, Can Harbaurgh legally over sign a few, or have a few gray shirts also (I forgot what those are)??,... because he might have some attrition when the "you know what hits the fan" Bo's famous sign was "those who stay will be champions"... but back then they had at least 120 scholarships, I believe.
Do you expect much attrition, or figure the players are more than happy to have a new direction? Any reply's from anyone is appreciated.

I really don't think Funches will amount to a hill of beans in the NFL. Couldn't get open enough and could't hang on to the ball when he did...just saying.
Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

I see where Kyle Bosch transferred to WVU not exactly closer to home is it?

Rumor is Bosch had academic issues, not sure if it was grade related or just not showing up to class...

U Ron, for what its worth, I totally agree with you. His size gets people excited, but he never took over games.

He is not a possession guy or run in the middle guy...if he is in the NFL 5 years from now I will be shocked.
