Michigan Monday: You Mad Bro?

Congratulations to the Golden Boy on his 4th Super Bowl win last night.  That was one of the best football games, I have ever seen.    How about Alan Branch's journey this year?  He want from a DUI to being out of football to starting in the Super Bowl.  Cam Gordon is also on the Patriots, the practice squad I believe.   Well done guys!

Now comes the strange situation with Deontay Burnett.

Both Rivals and Scout both reported he had committed to Michigan yesterday.   The source was his high school head coach.   Deontay talked to a couple services at DTW before jumping on a plane and spoke highly of the visit but never said he committed.

When he gets off the plane in California, he finds that the news he has committed is all over the place.  He quickly tweets out he didn't commit to Michigan.    I don't know what happened but here are my thoughts on what could of happened:

  • Deontay told his coach he was committing but he hadn't spoken to the Michigan coaches yet.

  • He didn't have a committable offer and Michigan was waiting to hear from Van Jefferson first.

  • Deontay wants to do the "hat thing" on NSD.

Some reports late last night was that Michigan was no longer in consideration for Deontay, which leads me to believe he didn't have a committable offer, but who knows?

Van Jefferson is back in Tennessee considering what he might do on Wednesday.  He is currently committed to Ole Miss.

Rutgers commit Jarius Adams left Ann Arbor still committed to Rutgers.  I expect him to stay with that commitment.  Don't know if that is a good sign (meaning Michigan is looking good for other CB's) or a bad thing.

CB Chris Williamson who had been blowing up lately and just visited Florida is expected to pick his choice tonight.   The trend is he will pick Florida.

CB Arnette is trending to OSU after his visit to CBus this weekend.

I am going to add another name to the possible NSD surprise flip list, 3 star WR Grant Perry from Brother Rice who is committed to Northwestern.   He played with Malzone at Brother Rice and currently doesn't have an offer from Michigan.   Update 3:00PM:  Could be happening now.

(Side Note: This could be what happened yesterday with Burnett.  He left without committing and Michigan moved on to Perry)

This is going to be a long two days......................
  • It seems Michigan has hired Chris Partridge the former head coach of Jabrill Peppers and #1 rated player in the nation for the 2016 class Rashan Gary.  Partridge will have a non-coaching/ recruiting role in the football program.
Here are the announcement times for Michigan targets on ESPN U (all times EST) on Wednesday:
  • Chris Clark 8:30
  • Roquan Smith: 11:00
  • Iman Marshall: 4:00
Were going to know early how the day might go for the Wolverines.

Harbaugh gets an absolute a plus for the effort he's putting forth and trying to recruit these kids to Michigan he's a little late in the day to get some of them but he's trying like hell to do so. I hope Chris Clark admits he's the only one I'm pretty sure will the other two not so much if anything at least Schollies open up for some walk ons and who knows see Kovacs.
