Florida and Michigan seem to be the darlings of college football with the success of the two of the biggest hires from the off season. Florida is un-defeated with a home win over #3 Ole Miss last weekend and Michigan's only loss is to a top 10 Utah squad.
Which got me thinking, who might be some of the top candidates for head coaching jobs next year? The first name that came to mind is DJ Durkin. He coached Florida's defense last year and even was the head coach for the bowl game win. He of course is on his second stint with Jim Harbaugh at Michigan now. DJ was the DE/Special Teams coach for Jimmy at Stanford. He turned down the DC job at Texas AM and probably other schools to coach the defense at Michigan.
Don't be surprised if schools don't come knocking for DJ next season. His is young and comes from Jimmy's coaching tree. He also has coaching experience as a GA at Norte Dame (when GMat was the DC) and as an assistant coach at Bowling Green.
If Michigan continues to be a top 5 defense and Florida does well, DJ's time at Michigan could be very limited if he wants to be a head coach.
- If you missed it MSU will be at 3:30, TV TBD.
- Former Michigan QB Russell Bellomy has now left UTSA
- Per Mgoblog this is a photo of Rashan Gary from last week. I hope that is a positive sign.

Jim even built his coaching staff 2 deep, just for that reason.
