Michigan Monday: ND Has A Tough Weekend

The countdown begins, less then two weeks away from Michigan Football.   How does that sound?

The pre-season AP Poll came out yesterday and Michigan came in ranked #7.   I actually like that spot, Michigan still has a lot to prove to folks outside the program and I'm ok with anything in the top 10.

  • Notre Dame had a difficult weekend as 6 players got arrested in two different incidents over the weekend.  Senior DB Max Redfield was thrown off the team completely, senior CB Devin Butler has been suspended indefinitely, the other 4 players will be punished internally.   Max had been in trouble in the past and was sent home from the Fiesta Bowl.  Devin has a broken foot and was going to miss the first part of the season anyway.  A tip of the hat goes to ND, for handling this situation quickly and swiftly.  ND is ranked #10 in the AP poll and opens on the road against an improved Texas team.

  • KJ Hamler who is a slot recruit from Michigan (who transferred to IMG for his senior year) has torn his ACL.   Good luck to KJ as he recovers.

For you Monday motivation:

Here we go again... I get to stand on an orange crate and vent to everybody!

AM I THE ONLY ONE SEEING THIS??

If this was Jimmy Harbaugh's Michigan team would it be glanced over as much as Notre dame?

Hell no... the press and other coaches would crucify Jimmy worse than the original... they would say things like Jimmy is not minding the store while he is out doing summer camps... or Jimmy's outrageous personality cost him control of team... they would broadside Jimmy like the USS Iowa shooting salvo after salvo, probably making Jimmy second guess himself (although Jimmy's constitution is quite strong)!

I do believe at least half of the Notre Dame's problem lies in the coaching staff and the way they recruit. Yes, I am biased towards Jimmy but I do believe he recruits skill and character, Notre Dame over looked the character part

You can not stop all the craziness, but that's roughly 10% of Notre Dames returning squad... I bet most of those players have no business being at Notre Dame, and would have been rejected for entry as a regular student.

Bob, you should really give "kudos" to that cop, because he had rights to kill that player that threw him to the ground.

I do not believe such a large problem will ever happen to Jim Harbaugh because I do believe he also recruits character! Notre Dame sold out for victories!!!

Rankings don't really matter to me, especially at the beginning of the season. Just win and win big against the teams they're supposed to beat.

As for the ND situation they really don't deserve a tip of the cap. They probably wanted to get rid of the guy they kicked off the team, the guy that they suspended indefinitely should be kicked off the team for what he did (punching and body slamming a cop...come on), and internal punishment for the rest of them is BS. They should have at least a two or three game suspension.

if they were players that weren't projected to be in the irish's 2 deep line up, booting them isn't really an issue..... If they were, then I give ND a little more credit, cuz fsu or osu would have made them captains
