Michigan Friday: Recruiting Should be Renamed to Free Agency

This is starting to get off the rails.  Reports the last few days started to surface that Michigan's offer to Bryce Underwood is in excess of 10M for 3 years.  Ok fine, a kid should be paid what he is worth.   The issue is, when this becomes public it muddy the waters for everyone.   Bryce on IG said he was likely to turn down that offer and then deleted the post.

When you are talking life changing shoot family changing money there are a ton of voices in this 18 year-old's head.  The issue here is the number is public for some reason.  We don't know how much Arch Manning or Travis Hunter makes.  What about Livvy Dunne? I have no idea what she brings in NIL every year but I'm sure its huge.  How do you think the Underwood's feel about this number being public?  Pretty sure they don't love the narrative, "Bryce went to Michigan for the Money".   How about his future teammates at Michigan or LSU?  When he pulls up in a Lambo SUV.  Or he could just be trolling everyone like a 18 year-old would.

This isn't the Dallas Cowboys paying $60M to their average QB and not being able to pay any other positions.  Recruiting at this level has become a full negotiation.  Some say it always has been and the SEC and a school in Columbus was just doing it better than Michigan was.   Still, Michigan has to be better at this and know all eyes, all the time are on the Wolverines.

You can see why Saban ran to ESPN and Jim to the Chargers.   Sherrone is going to be the scapegoat if this doesn't turn out to be a good thing for the Wolverines.

  • Michigan Basketball takes on TCU tonight at Crisler.  6:00 Tip the Horned Frogs are 3-0.
  • Anyone else think that watching a live Tyson Fight was never going to happen again?  Think again! Remember we couldn't believe George Foreman was fighting in his 40's?  Mike is 58.
  • Big Ten Football tonight PAC 12 Style:  UCLA at UW

Tyson is going to be in big trouble. Hope he doesn’t get too hurt.

This underwood thing is a mess. Lost one qb, who knows if we lose our frosh qb. Then we are in even worse shape than we are now.

TBH, Underwood should just stay with LSU. First, the pressure on him being the savior of the Michigan program would be immense! 2nd, I'm not sure we have the right coaching staff to turn things around. KC is not a power 4 OC. And I have stated ad nauseum that I don't think Moore is the right choice as the HC. Even if he came here, the OL blows, he'd be running for his life every snap. There's no comparing the WR rooms. LSU brings in a 5 star every year to replace the 1st round draft pick that goes to the league! Finally, LSU is a pass happy attack, Michigan would rather run the ball at all cost. Which is more attractive to a kid with aspirations of a pro career?

Go, that whole fight akin to WWE. Its a paycheck for both those guys that's it. It's like the hulk hogan scene from Rocky 3. "you chase me around the ring and then I'll chase you and we'll give them a good show". Like all of the Jake Paul fights, nobody will get hurt, nobody will even get hit with a solid shot. In the end the only losers will be the people that wasted their time watching this fight and paid for the right to see it. Jake Paul has never boxed a real boxer in his prime!!!!

Is it safe to assume Jayden Davis is transferring?

That was my thought when I heard his "family" requested a redshirt. That they wanted to save as much eligibility as they could for the next program. There's no reason not to get him some game time, even if it's only a series or 2 a game. Literally all the other QBs are dead after this year. Even before medically retiring, Tuttle was done after a 17 yr college career. Davis Warren is out of eligibility too I believe. And Orji isn't a QB so that's a moot point. And Jayden Denegal, is he still with the program? Do we need to look at the back of milk cartons to see if anyone reported him missing?

which is more embarrassing; a 5-5 record after a Natti, or throwing silly money at a local kid who is so disinterested in your program that he's willing to play several states away? Sherone isn't getting fired after his first year. He's the first black head football coach so they'll be hesitant to fire him. Sherone has to clean house though. BTW....I'd get rid of Ward first, then let the new AD select the next head coach. So we really have no QB on the roster that will be starting for next year...that's amazing. Surely they'll get a couple in the transfer portal but unbelievable at a program like this, they aren't prepared. It's going to be very telling in a few weeks when the portal opens to see how many current players jump in it. I think there may be several. $party has chosen the portal for their team strategy for several years. Other than getting a great RB once, it has failed for them. $uckeyes also trying to build a championship in the portal and it has yet to be determined if it's help them.

Cool, I'll tow the woodchipper to AA! Lets clean the entire house! Aim, my point is it doesn't look to be any better next year, so just take out the trash and bottom out. To your question, the 5-5 record coming off the Naty. That's the biggest fall in history. The Underwood thing screams desperation. Moore knows he's on the hot seat with a portion of the fanbase, but if he were able to bring in a 5 star recruit like Bryce, he'd buy himself at least 2 more years. Unless Underwood would of pulled a Quin Ewers, take the money and then leave the next off season in the portal!

I will always root for MIchigan but now they have to recruit with ($) I will like from a distance. Playing for pride and enjoying themselves have become the past. I hate to admit it but even in my twenties sometimes I would cry like a baby over special games. Not anymore. Good luck to any of you that still feel the games are special still.
