When everyone saw the schedule come out they knew that playing Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State in the same year was trouble. At least Texas and Oregon was at home. What we didn't expect was really bad performances on the road against Washington and Illinois. They Ducks have already beaten the Buckeyes and currently the #1 team in the nation with a light schedule prior to the Big Ten Championship game.
Michigan is a over a 2 TD dog and their best cover corner is questionable at best and most likely won't play. Did I mention Wink is still Michigan's DC?
Dear Sherrone:
Well done last week finding the proper mix in Warren and Orji. Beating the Spartans is a must win if your going to keep your job long term in Ann Arbor. This week is another story. You have the #1 team in the nation visiting, a QB that has been in college similar length to Tuttle, and a very good defense. I expected the Ducks to have an explosive offense but they have been pretty sound on defense so far this year.
They didn't exactly shut down the Professional Columbus Crew but they did enough to win the game. So you have your hands full this weekend for sure.
I write to you every Friday with the purpose of giving you advice. This week, even I don't know what to say.
Michigan needs to control the clock and run the ball. The problem is everyone knows Michigan wants to run the ball. The Ducks will again provide a loaded box and shut down Michigan's running game. Which means Warren must complete his passes and Orji must be the best runner on the field for both teams. The Wolverines must again play a clean game. No turnovers or dumb drive extending penalties.
On defense, the only thing I can think of to stop the Ducks offense is pressure, Michigan's talented front 4 must get pressure and run coverage schemes in the secondary. If you blitz, Gabriel will pick the secondary apart. Stewart and others must have a huge day. Gabriel is always due to have a stinker game and lets hope Saturday is the day.
Coach, everyone knows this year is a wash and even though we all would love an upset on Saturday, nobody expects it. Your biggest win this year would be for Bryce Underwood to commit, sign a bidding NIL deal, and enroll in Ann Arbor in January.
Coach your out "everything" on Saturday. The Ducks have spent more money on its roster, have better coaches, have more talent, an explosive offense, and a good defense. They want what Michigan earned last season. A National Championship. Time to lace up the shoes a little tighter, pull the chin strip a little harder, and coach a little louder. This is the Big House and nobody comes in and embarasses the Michigan Wolverines! Play with pride and Play God Damn Michigan Football. We have seen it in small windows this season. Time to play it for a full game. Good luck and make us proud and prove that you are the leader of this team for a long time.

The keys to beating Oregon is tackling well, which was an issue in the MSU game, and getting pressure on Gabriel. He doesn't handle pressure that well. Oregon's OL has been better than it was at the beginning of the year, but can still struggle against good DLs. I think I read that Oregon has the lowest air yards in their passing attack than any other B1G team. They love to throw bubble screens and underneath and let their receivers gain yards after the catch. I think they also lead the B1G in YAC. So tackling is a MUST.
This will be a good game. We had to have learned a few things from some bad losses this year. If we haven't learned anything, then history will repeat itself.
Not only is Sherrone recruiting Underwood hard, we have also made an NIL offer to fellow LSU commit and top 50 WR Derrek Meadows. Might as well try to flip WR Phillip Wright while you're at it. I'd like nothing better than to stick it to that weasel Brian Kelly.
If Gabriel has time, it will be a long day. Hit that little shit. He has not seen aggressive defenses in the Pac10.
I almost called Oregon's QB Stan Gabriel. Wasn't that the QB from Revenge of the Nerds?
Brady, he'll be hard to hit cause he typically doesn't hold the ball long. Its a dink and dunk passing game with the emphasis on YAC. The secondary can't give the Duck receivers 10 yd cushions. Going to have to stay in their grills and tackle as soon as they catch the ball. That's the other side of the equation, hit the receivers. Make them grow alligator arms
Might as well, LSU boosters are growing tired of Brian Kelly. He wasn't an unanimous selection as the coach and has had more than his share of cringe moments down there. That and those fans think they should win a Naty at least every 3rd year. My point is there's talk about moving on from him already.
Whilst some of us are crying the blues (me a lot), we can easily miss little important things like > Warren had a great game and won against MSU. Warren was quite thrilled and that would rank as one of his best days in life. Probably thought he would never see the field again!
Yeah....great is not the word I'd use! 13-19 123 yds? Yeah, that's not great in my book. I'd go with better! He was better than his other starts cause he didn't turn the ball over.
Yeah, Chowman your right I should have said good game as compared to other teams... but for him it was great considering the lack of turn-overs and more production over his previous starts. Years ago, I witnessed a snowy owl eating a duck in Maumee Bay Toledo on the island (end of dike). Kind of a stretch to call it an omen. Roast the Ducks. Fluck the DUCKS!
As I've stated, Oregon likes to throw short and get YAC. If the D tackles tomorrow like they did last Saturday, it's going to be a long game, and I'll be in bed by 8pm as I'll be drunk as hell. I bag on Winky all the time. Ok Martindale, show me you're an NFL DC and confuse the fck out of Gabriel. Offensively, if Lanning and his DC don't load the box every time Orji steps on the field, I'll be shocked. I know its sounds crazy as hell, but I have a package of plays where both Orji and Warren are in the game and both lined up in the backfield.
Wow, that's crazy. I dont know what's worse, holding on to a coach too long or getting rid of one too soon. He should've stayed at N.D.
Ya, that dink and dunk is tough to defend. Don't get caught playing up or they will hitch and go on you deep.
You can slant a Will (LB) to jump a route and make sure you have help rotating from the safeties. It's like musical chairs, you move a spot to fill a spot. Works well as long as you are one step ahead of the offense.
Davis @ QB, Orji $ Mullings @ RB's with Edwards in the Slot.
The only way we have a chance of coming out with a win today is winning the turnover battle, ability to control the clock with the running game, and playing elite overall defense in tackling, downfield coverage, with the D-line creating havoc in there backfield.
If M did happen to win today, (of which would be petty big upset), it would conceivably put us back in the playoff hunt, if by going forward we were also able to upset both Indiana & Ohio St. we'd be in.
Unrealistic, probably ... Possible, that's why we watch the game.
Yeah Blue, using the P word might be a bit much. For me it would be a sign that the coaching staff is starting to move the program in the right direction! Even a close loss would tell me that the staff built on last week. We get our doors blown off and it tells me that the adage is true: even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile!
More like R-R-P-P....
Sorry guys I was going to Dubai unexpectedly emergency business meeting... I am back Oregon 45 Michigan 17
