Breaking News: Roy Manning New LB Coach

AP
Roy is a former LB at Michigan and has been a locally "hot" assistant coach for the past few years.   He played in the NFL for Green Bay Packers,  Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cincinnati Bengals from 2005-2007.

In 2010 he was a graduate assistant for Cincinnati and then moved to Brady Hoke's staff at Michigan as another graduate assistant in 2011.   After 2011 he jumped back to Cincinnati for a "paid" role as Cincinnati's RB coach.   After Butch Jones left for Auburn Roy moved over to Northern Illinois.  Then Jerry Montgomery left Michigan and Roy got a call from Brady and he is back where he belongs in the Maize and Blue.

One question you might have is why was he a RB coach?  Sometimes head coaches have to get creative with jobs when they want a good coach on staff that can really recruit.  Roy fits that label and Butch wanted him on staff.   Now he is back with the Wolverines coaching a position he played at Michigan and for a couple of years in the NFL.

This is a good hire and a good fit on Hoke's staff.  Roy's twitter account says that he was hired as Michigan's Outside Linebacker Coach.
