Michigan Thursday: Not a Second To Spare

Road games is difficult for any school.  The Wolverines are learning that they are now like a Michigan State, North Carolina or Duke and will get the best effort the other team has on their own floor any given night.   Purdue gave probably one of their best efforts of the season and was beating the top team in the Big Ten for 98% of the night.   Michigan had a small lead in the second half and another small one in over time.

Michigan seemed to struggle most of the night shooting under 30% from 3 and 68% from the line.  It seemed like they were getting good looks but nothing was dropping.   Then the son of the Purdue legend started to play very well as the Big Dog kept getting on TV with a confused look on his face, wondering who he should be rooting for.

Michigan had a great shot to win the game in regulation but Nik fired up a very deep three point shot that missed and then in OT missed back to back layups that could have put the game out of reach for the Boilermakers.   Due to a missed free throw Michigan got the ball over half court with just under 3 seconds left in the game.  Knowing the defense would be looking for Nik, Caris threw up a lob pass from out of bounds and GR3 made a move and hit the bucket.  Game Over - Big Dog probably proud and sad at the same time.

This is one of those games, you want your team to celebrate on the floor for 10 seconds and then jump straight on the bus and get out of there before the officials change their mind on the win.
I love it!

  • Some number changes for the guys on the football team:  Mike McCray changed from #3 back to #9, De'Veon Smith changed from #32  to #4, Reon Dawson changed from #20 to #30, Will Hagerup changed from #43 to #40.

  • 5th year senior TE Jordan Paskorz does not seem to be on Spring Roster.  He was expected back due to the youth at TE.

  • 2015 QB Alex Malzone (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) is visiting Ann Arbor on Saturday.

We've lost our share of games we deserved to win (WS last year, ohio two years ago in the big ten tourny)... it's good to get a win that we didn't deserve!
GO BLUE!
