Michigan Friday: Rudock To Michigan Offical

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football program announced today (Thursday, April 9) that quarterback Jake Rudock will join the program as a graduate student. He will be eligible to compete for the Wolverines this fall.
"I am excited for Jake to get here and compete with the quarterbacks that we already have in the program," said Jedd Fisch, U-M's passing game coordinator and quarterbacks and wide receivers coach. "I've known Jake for a long time, since 2011, and I am excited to be a part of the staff that is now coaching him.

"I think that Jake brings great maturity and experience to the program," added Fisch. "He has 25 starts under his belt in the Big Ten and a winning record of 15-10. All of that, combined with the quarterbacks we currently have in the program and all the skill we are surrounding him with, we are excited about the things that Jake can do for our program."
A product of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Weston, Florida, Rudock played four seasons at the University of Iowa (2011-14) and will graduate this spring with a degree in interdepartmental studies/multidisciplinary sciences. He earned Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors each of the past two seasons.

On the field, Rudock threw for 2,436 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions last season. He ranked second in the Big Ten in completion percentage (61.7%). Rudock, who posted a 15-10 record as the starting signal-caller at Iowa, played in 25 career games, completing 417-of-691 passes (60.3%) for 4,819 yards with 34 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.

Rudock will enroll in the School of Kinesiology and pursue a master's degree in movement science.

The school of Kinesiology is key because he had to enroll in a program that Iowa didn't have.

Couple disclaimers for the above video:

  1. I don't love that first pass as much as I did at the time
  2. That was his first year starting, his second year is much better
  3. There was a very strong wind during that game and it was very cold.

  • There doesn't seem to be any love lost between Nebraska and Michigan on the recruiting trail.  Nebraska offered King Davis yesterday.

  • Cass Tech Michael Onwenu is visiting OSU this weekend and Penn State next week.

I believe that is football's version of the baseball saying "the sun was in his eyes".

Iowa can release Jake Rudock to Michigan (I'm sure they knew where he was going before he left) because Iowa doesn't play Rudock this year.
