Michigan Friday: Papa Finds a New Home

One question on Juwan Howard when he was hired as Michigan's basketball coach was, can he recruit?  He has proved he can over his tenure in Ann Arbor.  The latest to jump on board is 2023 4-star big man Papa Kante who is a 6'10 Center prospect.

Reading the evaluations, its sounds like Papa has nice talent that could really develop into a solid big man.  He can hit a jump shot and is strong from the line.  His strength right now is in defending and rebounding.  He will need to continue to work on his pick and roll and low post moves.   Or in other words, another big man for Juwan to develop.

Welcome Papa!

  • Michigan Football offered vast rising senior WR from TN Chance Fitzgerald.  Michigan offered and then within minutes Syracuse and Auburn did the same thing.
  •  4-star CB Chris Peal will make his announcement on Sunday.  Michigan is in his final 4 and he has visited Ann Arbor.  Sounds like Georgia is the leader in the clubhouse.

I was hoping to give you a few games to watch if you're interested in future Michigan opponents, but all the Big Ten games are depressing.

I was going to say Iowa @ OSU, which sort of makes sense as Michigan as already played Iowa and OSU is of course THE GAME.  Here is what I do with OSU games, I watch the first quarter and if it's still competitive I continue watching, if it's not I turn the channel.  ND was the only game I've watched for 4 quarters.

IU @ Rutgers - Don't do it.

Illinois unfortunately is also on a bye, would like to have caught up on them.

MSU we know is on a bye as well.

Nebraska is on a bye.

Minnesota @ PSU is entertaining to me because it's a night game and I want to see if PSU can stop Mo Ibrahim.  The more PSU wins, the better Michigan looks.

Bob is right, the B1G is a snooze fest this weekend. However, there are several Top 25 matchups worth checking out.

1.) #14 Syracuse vs #5 Clemson. IT'S THE BATTLE OF THE ORANGE! Michigan fans will want to root for Syracuse to beat Clemson and take them out of the playoff hunt. They are currently breathing down our necks in the polls and are ready to move up with another win. Go Orange....men!

2.) #7 Mississippi vs LSU Isn't it always fun to root against Brian Kelly? LSU has always been a little slimey, hence the reason Coach O isn't there anymore, but if LSU can knock off the #7th ranked team in the country, more pressure off of Michigan for making the Final Four Playoffs.

3.) #20 Texas vs #11 Oklahoma St. Meh. Chance to check out hotshot Texas QB Quinn Ewers, a former Ohio St. commit, supposed to be fun to watch. Otherwise, no dog in this fight.

4.) #9 UCLA vs #10 Oregon Plenty to hate on with Michigan connections. Oregon just nabbed top QB recruit Dante Moore from Detroit King H.S. I'm sure Jimmy's not too thrilled about that. Flip side, UCLA has always been a thorn in Michigan's side, most recently stealing RB Zac Charbonett back and also getting QB Dorian Thompson Robinson, who was also a top Michigan recruit at the time. Can they both lose? They don't play defense in the Pac-12, so look for a 52-49 shootout.

GO BLUE! BEAT SHARTY!!

As for the new basketball commit, as Biggie used to say, "I like it when you call me Big Pappa!" Nice job, Juwan! Hoops are lookin good!!

PSU should win this one. I think PSU was overrated, but Minnesota is garbage. They haven't beaten a team that has a pulse. The bloom is definitely off PJ Fleck's rose!

Bucknut Boy is back. He’s posted the same comment 3 times now.

I just looked at Tennessee’s schedule. The rankings are as of today.

17 Pitt
20 Florida
25 LSU
3 Alabama
19 Kentucky
1 Georgia

That is one brutal schedule.

Brady2017 said...

Renegade- Yes,very competitive schedule for Tennessee, but 4 out of the 5 games are against in conference SEC opponents. I can recall plenty of times when Michigan had to play ranked B1G opponents like MSU,OSU,PENN ST, Iowa, and Wisconsin in the same year and nobody cared how much we struggled.

Clearly Ohio state has a better offense than us we have to play them physical...

Clearly?? Iowa has turned the ball over 5 times. A 7 turnover game tells me nothing.

Doesn’t mean I think we beat Ohio. Just mean this game has told me nothing.

Bucknutboys comment makes about as much sense as Urban Liars comment last week about us not being able to run on Penn State. And then 400 plus yards later...

Syracuse just gave the game away to Clemson they said no thank we will not win today... Ohio state is destroying Iowa... Wow best offense in the country... We will have our hands full... Justin are you talking from Dubai....?

I know English isn’t your first language, and that’s ok and great. I love immigrants. But man you really butcher your words.

OSU is not the top offense - GA and TN are both clearly better. If you disagree, please tell us how IA turning over 6 (SIX) times tells you something??

The PI call against Cuse was very generous to Clemson. A home field call. Buuuuut, Cuse was driving at the end against a powerhouse program. Those kids at Syracuse are awesome.

Had to be some puckering in Death Valley going on at the end of that game. Cause gave them all they could handle today...

Cuse, that is...

Everyone come up with three keys for victory over Michigan State...

1. Physical
2. Consistent running
3. Must connect at least three passes over 50 yards
