News broke that the Super Bowl runners-up The Philadelphia Eagles have interviewed Michigan DC Jesse Minter for their open DC role. When Spring Practice starts there should be a rule you can't poach other coaches in the college game.
Jesse of course did a really good job last season (outside of the CFP) replacing Mike Macdonald who only stayed in Ann Arbor for one year before John called him home to the Ravens. I thought it was strange we didn't see other programs coming after Minter in the off season and I thought we had dodged a bullet before the Eagles came calling.
The Eagles are clearly interviewing the top minds in college and NFL trying to find the right fit. Minter's NFL experience makes him a more intriguing candidate for Philly. Former Wisconsin DC Jim Leonhard was also interviewed, but he took himself out of the running yesterday. It seems Jim needs a hip replacement and wants to take a year off coaching to have the surgery and do the recovery.
- Speaking of John hiring Harbaugh coaching tree members, he hired Willie Taggert as the Ravens new RB coach on Wednesday. I had hopes that Willie might try to coach every college in Florida. He already has South Florida, FSU, and FAU on the resume.
- "This thing seems to be humming," Partridge said. "You guys have gotten it rolling since I've been gone. The culture is just awesome. I think it's got to be one of the best cultures in college football. I think the players, how willing, how hungry they are — it's a really good place. Walking in and feeling it, you can feel it as soon as you enter the building."
- Titans released Taylor Lewan, who may retire and just focus on his media career at Barstool or could sign a short-term deal with a contender.
