MAC Post Game

Grace Beal/Daily

What a strange week this has been.  Michigan gets notified about an over scouting allegation mid-week, suspends a low lever staffer, MSU considers not playing "due to player safety" and fans from both sides gets welcomed to Spartan Stadium with a trivia contest and a large photo of Hitler.   Michigan and Michigan State hadn't even kicked off the game and the outside news dominated the media coverage.  Hard to even make up a story this strange.

The game was played and Michigan completely dominated all phases and won 49-0.   I will get into more details in Cheers and Jeers, but sitting here on Sunday morning, my first thought is, it's been a very weird week.   Raise your coffee or tea this morning to a quiet Bye Week.

Cheers:
  • JJ is dealing!
  • We finally got the TE Game! Barner and Loveland combine for 3 TD's
  • Michigan's offensive play calling was on point for a defense designed to stop the run
  • Mikey's pick 6 was beautiful
  • Happy for McBurrows after last year's tunnel incident!
  • For the most part, Michigan played clean and let Sparty get the Personal Foul Penalties.
  • Michigan was locked in and focused after a tough week in the media
  • Michigan's defense continues to prove they are one of the best units in college football
  • Michigan covered the over/under by themselves
  • Love Michigan's 4th down defense
  • TJ Guy records a sack!
Jeers:
  • Running game continues to struggle against a loaded box
  • There were some missed tackles early in the game
  • Tyler Morris dropped an easy one
  • Even though Michigan saved the shutout, it got pretty sloppy at the end with the backups in

Hard to find anything wrong during that game.  I thought it was funny that the MSU QB would run to the sideline to get the play and then head to the huddle.  We also didn't see any TV shots of former MSU head coach Mark Dantonio, I'm sure he was enjoying the proceedings.

Lastly, how fun was it to end the game with nothing but Michigan fans owning Spartan Stadium? As all the Sparty's had headed to Rick's.

Thoughts Around the Big Ten:
  • What was that PSU - OSU game?  A comedy of errors and bad football.  Good defense but terrible offense by both sides.  The difference was OSU had the best WR in college football Marvin Harrison.  I don't know how James Franklin and his 0-10 Top 15 road record has been fooling Penn State fans for so long. 1-16 on 3rd down? That was a terrible coaching performance on Saturday.
  • Iowa and Minnesota had one of the lowest over/unders in the history of college football and still didn't hit it.  The way Iowa lost that game was unbelievable.
  • Just when Illinois was getting hot, they let one get away.
  • Rutgers is bowl eligible in October.
  • Future Big Ten, USC continues to try to find a defense and Washington barley gets by a trap game.  Which should knock down Penix in the Heisman race.
  • Big Ten West is ugly.
  • UNLV tracker 6-1

Loved it, this is my no#1 want every season. JJ continues to impress, his accuracy is a sliver between completion and interception. But man does he have the weapons to throw to. I watched PSU/OSU. PSU defense seems to be pretty decent and fast but their offense in meh at best. OSU is not the usual OSU. But they have a few injuries and Harrison is a beast. Lasty I couldn't watch our game due to a prior commitment but was keeping up on the progress of the game as it went on. When it hit 42 a guy said "pretty good for a bunch of cheaters". I asked him how you cheat on offense? The defense sets up according to what you're doing. He took a drink of his beer, turned and walked away. Made my whole night. Go Blue! Beat the bye!

Back again .... there is smoke to the "signal-gate." Hopefully no fire, but the fact that they relieved someone of their duties (does not look good)!

Did some research, and sources say the individual in question scrubbed all his internet sites (not a good sign). Not as important as finding a fingerprint: almost as valuable is when the FBI makes a search and finds no fingerprints (evidence of wipe-down).

This is much more then cheeseburger-gate. A notable sports figure said this could boil down to the person in question having friends/ family going to other games to records signals. Even though they are not employed by Michigan NCAA will drive home intent.

I want this to go away, but it's not going to .... At the very least this will hurt reputation and recruiting, and we lose Harbaugh. The worst is penalties and vacating wins during the employment of individual in question.

There is something too this besides he has a knack for stealing signals (which is legal), but you cannot have personnel going to other games and recording things (if that happened)... I think Michigan is on damage control but a tidal wave is coming. If there is nothing there, they why would he scrub his sites? (if he did).

The UNIVERSITY of Michigan is doing everthing wrong.
The Administration and faculty are destroying the University as a whole and they've been doing it progressively (both meanings of the word) for 30 years.

The Woke Culture is precisely what Bill Maher has described - and it's destructive to our culture and the students.

To get an elite education now is NOT worth $10.00 let alone $72,000.00 in yearly tuition. You're taught woke BS, incorrect history, poor philosophy (or none at all), and antagonism toward anything Christian, Conservative political thought, or American/Western. Now, the University elits are responsible for being vile/embarrassing NCAA sycophants presumably so the woke UM people can continue with their friendship with the Woke NCAA. I do believe Warde Manuel is one of the woke elitist losers. I hope I'm wrong.

Let's all pretend Men can play in women's sports and not destroy women's sport in the process. Let's pretend the NCAA is interested in legitimate investigation when it's clear they have a vendetta against Jim Harbaugh. Let's pretend that preferred pronouns being compelled to be spoken is "celebrating diversity" and not compelled speech and a gross violation of the 1st Ammendment.

The University should stand in SUPPORT of Harbaugh; instead they're sabotoging their own program (and education for students). Harbaugh is an example of a man of fortitude and dedication - and he's being attacked by the feckless MOB.

The University better change soon or UM will lose its real supportive base and it's reputation of "leaders and best". The UNIVERSITY is starting to behave like feckless slaves to a culture the claims "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" - when they in reality represent "Conformity, Marxism, and Exclusion of anyone who disagrees with leftist orthodoxy."

So imho JH and the university have the defense of plausible denial. They can claim he was a rogue element who on his own employed UofM sympathizers to feed him info. Look my thing is the NCAA has alliwed free agency in college. They've allow players being paid, why stop there. You want to be NFL go all the way.

Tom- Not sure what the hell you're talking about. Save that shit for Twitter. Or X, whatever it's called now. You're way out of bounds with all that political crap. No one here wants to hear that. Perhaps a couple too many Bud Lights during the game is understandable. Let's not make this a habit tho.

Hear hear Brady. Tom definitely has his head on a swivel looking for what he perceives as injustices in a changing world. Plenty of message boards for paranoid junk like that...
